About The Position

Innova Solutions is hiring a Senior Product Designer for a 12+ month contract supporting a client in New York, NY. The role is hybrid and requires W-2 engagement; 1099 and Corp-to-Corp arrangements are not accepted. The designer will produce detailed, production-ready product designs and handoffs, support an ongoing roadmap of features and enhancements, and collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Implementation teams in a Scaled Agile (SAFe) environment. The designer will turn ambiguous problems into user-centered flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs. They will prepare developer-ready specifications that cover component usage, states, responsive behavior, content guidance, accessibility, and edge cases; extend the NYL360 design system; and perform visual and design QA. They will also use analytics, usability feedback, support drivers, and stakeholder input to identify friction and shape improvements, then track design outcomes after launch. The position calls for strong interaction and visual design skills, expertise in Figma, experience designing complex workflows and structured systems, and familiarity with AI-augmented design workflows, accessibility, technical architecture concepts, and front-end basics. Pay is $60–$65 per hour. Benefits are available based on eligibility.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of digital product design experience, with a record of shipping high-quality, production-ready work across product types such as responsive websites, apps, portals, and workflow tools.
  • Strong detailed design skills, including high-fidelity UI, design systems, responsive and multi-breakpoint design, and detailed developer handoff.
  • Experience supporting products after launch and iterating on live features through a continuous roadmap of enhancements.
  • Experience designing in a Scaled Agile (SAFe) environment and collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, and Implementation teams from concept through delivery and QA.
  • Experience presenting work to senior stakeholders and clearly articulating and defending design decisions.
  • Experience designing complex, structured systems such as dashboards, portals, data-heavy workflows, and form-based experiences.
  • Strong command of interaction design and visual design, and experience collaborating on UX writing.
  • Experience with AI-augmented design workflows, such as Figma AI, Claude Design, ChatGPT, or NotebookLM, with measurable efficiency gains.
  • Expertise in Figma, including components, variables, auto layout, prototyping, and Dev Mode handoff.
  • Comfort with Adobe Creative Suite and collaborative whiteboarding tools such as FigJam or Miro.
  • Familiarity with technical architecture concepts, including service-oriented architecture, microservices, and data models, and front-end basics such as HTML and CSS.
  • Solid understanding of WCAG accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
  • Must be available for W-2 engagement; 1099 contractors and Corp-to-Corp arrangements are not considered.

Responsibilities

  • Turn ambiguous problems into clear user-centered flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs grounded in user needs, business goals, and platform constraints.
  • Create production-ready prototypes and detailed engineering handoffs covering component usage, states, responsive behavior, content guidance, accessibility notes, and edge cases.
  • Leverage and extend the NYL360 design system, contributing reusable components, patterns, and documentation.
  • Own visual and design QA by reviewing product builds, logging defects, and partnering with engineers to resolve issues before release.
  • Support a continuous roadmap of features and enhancements across concurrent sprints.
  • Design and refine core workflows such as navigation, dashboards, servicing tasks, forms, document and data review, and key decision points across web and/or mobile.
  • Use analytics, usability feedback, support drivers, and stakeholder input to identify friction, prioritize improvements, and inform design work.
  • Keep specifications, documentation, and pattern libraries current.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners/Managers, Engineering, and Implementation teams on refinement, sprint planning, retrospectives, alignment, and decisions; keep design ahead of development.
  • Balance near-term production work with design for upcoming enhancements across concurrent sprints.
  • Respond to build questions, unblock engineers, and make pragmatic tradeoffs while maintaining quality.
  • Track and communicate the impact of design decisions after launch, including task success, time-to-complete, adoption, and user satisfaction, and use results to shape enhancements.
  • Advocate for customers in cross-functional discussions, using evidence to align stakeholders on the problems to solve.
  • Participate in co-creation and design-quality activities, including story mapping, journey mapping, design studios, and critique, in partnership with the Lead Product Designer and design peers.
  • Review AI-generated design outputs for quality and compliance and lead adoption of AI tools across the team.
