Position Summary: The Senior Contract Administrator coordinates the work of the contract management team, thoughtfully managing the contract queue in order to review contracts in a timely manner, schedule time to test new functionality and answer questions regarding system functionality and internal contract policy.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of contract review processes
  • Strong understanding of university and governmental policies and regulations
  • Understanding of business processes and systems; knowledge of internal controls and ability to enhance and maintain a strong internal control environment
  • Able to implement and enforce policy in a respectful and customer service-oriented manner; demonstrated focus on compliance as well as customer service
  • Must be comfortable say ‘no’ when appropriate
  • Strong understanding of legal contract review, procurement principles and practices, and procurement negotiation methods.
  • Understanding and appreciation for automation and the use of technology as an enabler of high-quality services and performance levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of higher education culture, governance, structures and mission.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced deadline driven environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Three to five (3-5) years of procurement, contract management/administration, paralegal

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Procurement to Pay platforms such as Jaggaer, Coupa, Unimarket
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field i.e., business administration, procurement management, paralegal, contract law or related field
  • Experience writing and supporting contracts.
  • Five to seven (5-7) years of procurement, contract management/administration, paralegal experience
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience writing, negotiating, and auditing complex contractual agreements ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the review of 1300-1500 contracts annually
  • Serves as first point of contact for issues related to contract review including departmental non-compliance, contract review timing, DU business community concerns.
  • Provides strategic guidance for enhancements to the departmental and University-wide processes and procedures.
  • Guide the day-to-day activities of the contract management team
  • Oversee the training for new contract administrators
  • Serve as the subject manager expert for all contract module related questions within the campus wide Procure to Pay system.
  • Review proposed, revised and current contracts for risk management, insurance, indemnification, worker classification, intellectual property, data owner, and data security issues to ensure adherence with contract requirements.
  • Prepare analyses and reports to evaluate system efficiencies, suggesting improvements as need
  • Responsible for preparing management reports regarding the contract management process and university-wide spending
  • Provide guidance and direction to improve contract legal compliance and risk management mitigation including the development and delivery of training.
  • Maintains current knowledge of university initiatives that affect procurement contractual agreements and communicates to stakeholders and implementing change as needed.
  • Help test new system functionality.
  • Assess the benefit of new enhancements.
