About The Position

The Signal Processing team in Raytheon’s Processing, Guidance and Controls (PG&C) Center is seeking a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer – RF Signal Processing in Tucson, Arizona. The engineer will collaborate on the design, development, prototyping, integration, testing, and performance assessment of RF algorithms and models. These algorithms support sensor-data calibration and denoising; detection, acquisition, tracking, and classification of objects of interest; and sensor fusion across products and new business initiatives. The role serves as a recognized signal-processing subject matter expert, technical leader, and/or functional leader, with responsibility for the budget, schedule, development, execution, and completion of complex program objectives. The engineer uses and modifies simulations and participates in production, engineering lab, and field-test environments to verify and validate RF models and algorithm performance against requirements. The position contributes throughout development, from program start-up to live-fire testing, and provides expertise in reviews and technical briefings. It also oversees technical teams, mentors engineers, and/or manages engineering projects. This is an onsite role in Tucson, Arizona, and requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain the specified U.S. government security clearance.

  • Signal-processing experience in EO/IR, RF, Sonar, and/or Acoustic domains.
  • Experience with the C programming language, or object-oriented programming experience with C++, C#, and/or Java.
  • Experience with algorithm design, implementation, analysis, testing, and/or optimization.
  • Experience managing or leading others in a technical and/or functional capacity within an engineering environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Interim Secret U.S. government-issued security clearance prior to the start date, with the ability to obtain special program access after starting.
  • U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency using MATLAB or Python for analysis of data sets.
  • Strong communication skills, including presenting analysis to technical and non-technical audiences and advocating for solutions and strategy.
  • Experience with hardware/software integration.
  • Ability to interface with adjacent engineering disciplines such as Guidance, Navigation, and Control; Software Engineering; Systems Engineering; or Hardware Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a recognized signal-processing subject matter expert, technical leader, and/or functional leader responsible for the budget, schedule, development, execution, and completion of complex program objectives.
  • Use and modify simulations for the design, development, prototyping, integration, testing, and performance assessment of RF algorithms and models.
  • Participate in production, engineering lab, and field-test environments to test, verify, and validate RF models and signal-processing algorithm performance against requirements.
