Principal Algorithm & Signal Processing Engineer

STR•Dayton, OH
•$206,000 - $284,000

About The Position

The Electronic Warfare and Novel Capabilities Group (EWNC) develops advanced signal-processing algorithms and prototype systems for next-generation radar and electronic warfare technologies. The group collaborates across STR, with academic researchers, and with industry partners to develop practical solutions to RF sensing and counter-sensing challenges. Its engineers pursue technical ideas, engage with customers, lead multidisciplinary teams, and translate advanced research into prototype capabilities addressing national security needs. The Principal Engineer will develop algorithms for RF sensing, sensor decision-making, and autonomous electronic warfare. Areas of interest include signal detection and classification, electronic support measures, electronic attack and protection, cognitive EW, and advanced RF sensing technologies. The position leads projects and proposal efforts, advises and mentors technical staff, and partners with customers to understand mission needs and shape technical approaches, proposal strategies, and program plans. The work includes architecting algorithms from concept through operational prototype and transitioning research into prototype capabilities. The position is ideally suited to a Principal Engineer, though applicants aligned with the requirements may be considered for opportunities at multiple experience levels. Positions are available in Woburn, Massachusetts, and Dayton, Ohio. The role requires the ability to obtain a security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required by the U.S. Government for clearance eligibility.
