About The Position

This position is responsible for the accurate, timely, and compliant execution of payroll. This role is hands-on personally processing bi-weekly, multi-state payroll for 500+ employees within ADP Workforce Now. In addition, this role will serve as the internal subject-matter expert for payroll and tax compliance and support employees with payroll questions. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of hands-on payroll or related experience, including direct responsibility for running payroll, preferred
  • Experience with multi-state payroll and benefits administration
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax laws, wage/hour compliance, and benefits regulations
  • Proficiency with HRIS/payroll systems, specifically ADP Workforce Now (e.g., Paycom, Paychex, PayCor, Ceridian)

Nice To Haves

  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or SHRM/PHR certification
  • Experience supporting healthcare, pharmaceutical, or regulated industries
  • Experience partnering closely with Finance and external auditors

Responsibilities

  • Personally process bi-weekly and/or weekly payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees across multiple states
  • Manage payroll inputs including new hires, terminations, promotions, bonuses, retro pay, garnishments, benefit deductions and off-cycle checks
  • Ensure compliance with FLSA, state wage/hour laws, tax regulations, and local payroll requirements
  • Review payroll registers, variance reports, and reconciliation reports prior to submission
  • Oversee and execute quarter-end and year-end payroll activities, including W-2s, audits, and tax filings
  • Process monthly GL entries and reconciliations, accruals, and payroll-related reporting
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and applicable state regulations
  • Act as the go-to person for resolving payroll- related questions and issues.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for payroll processes
  • Lead payroll and benefits audits and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and employee experience
  • Regular and reliable attendance expected.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
