About The Position

The Raley’s Companies is seeking a Senior Payroll Analyst to support accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across the enterprise. This role is a senior-level resource within the Payroll department, contributing to daily operations, payroll accounting, system support, process improvements, and strategic initiatives. The position requires close partnership with Finance, HRIS, and IT departments. The Senior Payroll Analyst will ensure the accurate and compliant processing of payroll operations, review payroll results for discrepancies, and resolve issues before finalization. They will also ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, support complex payroll transactions, and perform payroll-to-general ledger reconciliations. Additionally, the role involves investigating and resolving discrepancies between payroll, general ledger, and related systems, maintaining documentation for payroll controls and audits, and monitoring payroll system functionality and data integrity. The Senior Payroll Analyst will validate payroll-related file feeds and system integrations, troubleshoot payroll system issues, and coordinate resolutions with HRIS, IT, and vendors. They will also support ongoing payroll data governance and control processes, assist with Oracle payroll updates and testing, and participate in payroll-related projects and process improvements. The role aims to identify automation opportunities, streamline payroll operations, and standardize processes across operating companies. The Senior Payroll Analyst will serve as a key resource for payroll inquiries, provide guidance on payroll processes, and support payroll training and communication efforts. They may also serve as interim Payroll Manager or acting Payroll Supervisor as needed for business continuity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or HR-related field
  • Five (5+) years of progressive payroll processing, payroll accounting, or payroll systems experience
  • Multi-state payroll experience preferred
  • Oracle HCM or similar payroll system experience preferred
  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Payroll operations, accounting principles, and compliance requirements
  • General ledger processes and financial reconciliation practices
  • Payroll system integrations and data interfaces
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage complex payroll scenarios and competing priorities
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Permanent residency in California, Nevada, or Arizona is a condition of employment for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Support end-to-end payroll processing to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Review payroll results, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues prior to finalization

  • Support complex payroll transactions including retroactive adjustments, corrections, and off-cycle processing
  • Perform payroll-to-general ledger reconciliations and validate payroll postings
