Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting a series of registration procedures to qualify donors for the plasma pheresis process. Assists qualified donors in completing the screening process, which includes assessing self-administered health history, answering basic medical questions, referring donors to medical staff when appropriate, and performing health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature. Performs finger sticks to obtain samples for hematocrit and total protein levels. Educates new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma, explains the screening process, health screening tests, appointment system, donation fees, center policies, and proper nutrition. Ensures all donor questions are answered accurately and professionally. May be involved in registering applicant and transfer donors, answering the telephone, and assisting callers. Maintains awareness of donor reactions during or after the pheresis process and notifies appropriate staff. Conducts daily calibration of equipment and resolves calibration issues. Troubleshoots equipment failures, creates incident documentation, and removes/replaces equipment from service. May provide guidance and technical training to other staff. Alerts Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues. Ensures accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system. Understands policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs. Maintains a clean work environment, ensures sufficient supplies, and follows all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and OSHA policies and procedures. Promotes safety and may conduct routine audits. Maintains confidentiality of all information. May be cross-trained in other areas and may require bilingual skills. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
