This role involves assisting qualified donors in completing the screening process, which includes assessing health history, answering medical questions, referring donors to medical staff, and performing health screening procedures like blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature checks. The technician also performs finger sticks to obtain samples for hematocrit and total protein levels. Additionally, they educate new donors about the use of therapeutic products, explain the screening process, and ensure all donor questions are answered accurately and professionally. The role may also involve registering donors, answering telephones, monitoring donors for reactions, performing equipment calibration and troubleshooting, and maintaining a clean work environment. Accurate recording of donor data and adherence to safety and confidentiality policies are crucial.
