About The Position

Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting a series of registration procedures to qualify donors for the plasma pheresis process. Assists qualified donors in completing the screening process, which includes assessing health history, answering medical questions, referring donors to medical staff, and performing health screening procedures like blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature checks. Performs finger sticks to obtain samples for hematocrit and total protein levels. Educates new donors on the use of therapeutic products, explains the screening process, health tests, appointment system, donation fees, center policies, and nutrition. Ensures all donor questions are answered accurately and professionally. May be involved in registering applicant and transfer donors, answering the telephone, and assisting callers. Maintains awareness of donor reactions during or after the pheresis process and notifies appropriate staff. Conducts daily equipment calibration and troubleshoots equipment failures. May provide training to other staff. Alerts supervisors of donor flow issues. Accurately records donor data in the electronic donor information management system. Understands policies for hyper immune programs. Maintains a clean work environment and ensures sufficient supplies. Follows all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and OSHA policies and procedures, promoting safety. May conduct routine audits. Maintains confidentiality of all information. May be cross-trained in other areas and may require bilingual skills. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 18 months experience in a clerical or customer service related position, preferably in a medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions.
  • Understands, remembers and communicates routine, factual information.
  • Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
  • Occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of time.
  • Reach, bend, kneel and have high level of manual dexterity.
  • Occasionally be required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures and to blood borne pathogens.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.
  • Required to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs.

  • Ensures accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system.
  • Understands policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs.
  • Maintains a clean and efficient work environment and ensures sufficient supplies.
  • Follows all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures.
  • Promotes safety in all actions.
  • May conduct routine audits of internal procedures and documentation.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  • May be cross-trained in other areas.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
