About The Position

Keltia is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer with expertise in Motion Control for their client, a specialist in the Aerospace Industry located in the Los Angeles region. This role will focus on motors, including BLDC, Brushed, Armatures, Stators, and Rotors, as well as manufacturing processes and special processes. Experience in Electrical Engineering, PLC Controls (A&B or Keyence), and Labview is also relevant. The position involves supporting ATP testing, tooling design, and manufacturing engineering tasks related to fluids and controls, laser marking, routing creation, and ERP systems. The engineer will ensure successful task completion within budget and time constraints, participate in defining manufacturing approaches, and provide support for design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of manufacturing operations. Responsibilities include contributing to process specifications, production aids, assembly fixtures, MRP support studies, and cost standards. The role requires compiling and evaluating test and production data, preparing technical analyses, and recommending manufacturing methods. The engineer will provide production floor support, address technical matters, and continually improve manufacturing methods and processes to optimize performance and reduce costs. Identifying and evaluating improvement opportunities, performing cost analyses, and supporting new product development to ensure ease of manufacturing and quality are key aspects. The position also involves ensuring the quality policy and system are understood and maintained, determining manufacturing operation requirements, specifying equipment and processes, and collaborating with suppliers. Developing plans for process evaluation, qualification, and validation, and applying Six Sigma methodologies are also part of the role.

Requirements

Experience in designing manufacturing aides and tooling.
CAD/Drafting experience (GD&T).
Working knowledge for mechanical and electrical assemblies.
Experience in technical writing (work instructions, processes, etc.).
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Excellent communication skills.
Positive attitude and ability to collaborate with both Engineering and Production.
Software skills required to be successful in this role include: MS Office, CAD, LabVIEW, and/or statistics software.
Knowledgeable in lean manufacturing principles and six sigma methodology
Proficient in financial and statistical analysis
Minimum 5 year's manufacturing engineering experience required.

Nice To Haves

Experience in motors (BLDC, Brushed, Armatures, Stators, Rotors, Mfg Processes and special processes)
Solid EE experience.
EE Experience, PLC Controls A&B or Keyence, Labview etc… Controls side desirable
Tooling Design Experience Solid works, NX, Caita, Inventor
Fluids and Controls a nice to have, but not required for motors, but is for the rest of the org.
Laser marking experience
Routing creation, managing in ERP
JDE experience nice to have, IFS future state
Pneumatic/Hydraulic Valve/ Actuator assembly and test experience
Knowledge of pumping/hydraulic systems
Knowledge of Electronics and PLC’s
Previous experience with aviation or medical equipment qualification processes desirable.
Green Belt, Black Belt or Lean certification a plus
Experience in project management
Experience in leadership role

Responsibilities

Ensures successful completion of the assigned tasks within the budgeted time and cost constraints.
Participates in defining manufacturing/engineering approaches, in planning and scheduling work.
Provides support in the design, fabrication, modification and evaluation of manufacturing operations.
Provides input to plans, process specifications and procedures, production aids and assembly fixtures, MRP support studies, factory cost work standards development, and the like.
Compiles and evaluates test and production data, prepares technical analysis, recommends manufacturing methods and processes required to meet design objectives on new or improved products and/or processes.
Provides production floor and assembly support in technical matters relating to assembly drawing interpretation, engineering change notices, rework, manufacturing difficulties and specifications.
Continually improve manufacturing methods/systems and process/ product improvements to optimize product performance and reduce manufacturing costs.
Identify and evaluate opportunities for improvement and make specific recommendations for adoption.
Perform cost analyses to reduce or optimize product costs.
Support new product development or existing product line extensions/modifications by ensuring new products or manufacturing processes are designed to facilitate ease of manufacturing and to produce quality, cost effective products with optimized yields.
Ensures that the quality policy and quality system is understood, implemented, and maintained at all levels of the organization.
Determine specific requirements of manufacturing operation in order to specify equipment, fixturing, and process parameters.
Collaborate on design with suppliers to fulfill equipment and fixturing requirements.
Develop plans to evaluate process repeatability and stability through equipment qualification and process validation.
Applies six sigma methodologies as appropriate.
Performs other related duties as required.
