Sr. Manager, Website Personalization and Optimization

Thomson ReutersEagan, MN
Hybrid

About The Position

This role is for an experienced Sr. Manager who will own the end-to-end strategy, capability building, and execution of the personalization program for Thomson Reuters' digital properties. The position requires a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, focusing on elevating the digital experience through strategic personalization. The Sr. Manager will serve as the primary domain expert and strategic partner to the Senior Director of Web Experience Strategy & Optimization, translating business goals into a concrete roadmap, moving the organization towards sophisticated audience segmentation and journey customization, and building foundational capabilities in data infrastructure, audience layers, personalization frameworks, testing approaches, and technology architecture. This role also involves articulating the business case and ROI of personalization investments, partnering with leadership on stakeholder alignment, and owning the operationalization of the program through defining processes, workflows, and governance. The Sr. Manager will translate business requirements into technical specifications, drive continuous testing and learning, and guide a team of optimization specialists. Cross-functional alignment and influence with various teams, including Digital Product Managers and technical teams, are crucial for success.

Requirements

  • 8-10+ years in digital marketing, web personalization, optimization, or related roles.
  • 5+ years driving web personalization activities across large organization; ideally leveraging Adobe Target.
  • 3+ years managing and developing teams, including coaching across different experience levels.
  • Track record of successfully building personalization capabilities or programs from the ground up, or significantly expanding and maturing existing programs.
  • Experience translating personalization strategy into operational roadmaps and delivering against them.
  • Hands-on expertise with personalization technology stack from Adobe or other equivalent platforms, such as: Adobe Target (decisioning engine), Adobe Audience Manager (audience segmentation and activation), Adobe Analytics (measurement and insight), and Adobe Experience Manager.
  • Experience with A/B testing and experimentation methodologies.
  • Deep understanding of how to segment audiences, build and activate audience segments, configure targeting rules, and measure personalization impact across digital properties.
  • Understanding of data strategy, data governance, and audience activation platforms.
  • Success working in complex, matrixed organizations and influencing across reporting lines without direct authority.
  • Domain Expertise: You think in frameworks about personalization maturity, audience segmentation, content targeting, and testing methodologies.
  • Deep understanding of data architecture — how data flows through CDPs, how analytical tagging structures support both business reporting AND optimization/testing, and how audience activation works technically.
  • Understand the technology stack deeply enough to advise on data strategy and capability roadmap, but you can translate technical concepts into business language.
  • Execution Operator: You know how to turn strategy into concrete programs with clear phases, dependencies, and success metrics.
  • Independent and Self-Directed: You understand the business context, you anticipate what needs to happen, and you take action.
  • People Leader: You can manage diverse personalities and experience levels. You coach people, set clear expectations, hold boundaries, and create psychological safety.
  • Strategic Communicator: You can explain complex technical and strategic concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Business Learner: You absorb organizational context quickly. You understand different customer journeys and business models.
  • Cross-Functional Influencer: You can work effectively with teams that don't report to you. You build credibility, coordinate dependencies, and create alignment without formal authority.
