About The Position

Tebra is seeking a Sr. Manager, Software Engineering to plan, direct, and oversee the full software project lifecycle, ensuring timely and within-scope delivery. This role involves supervising and mentoring a team of software engineers, driving strategic technical decisions, and collaborating with senior leadership on long-term engineering strategy. The position requires establishing and enforcing standards for system architecture, testing, documentation, and performance benchmarks. The Sr. Manager will direct engineering teams in building scalable and reliable event-driven systems using AWS, Java, and Python, with various database technologies and messaging platforms. Additionally, the role includes providing oversight for projects related to SMS A2P 10DLC regulations and improving email deliverability and reputation.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Four (4) years of experience as a Software Engineer or in a related role involving technical management.
  • Experience must include Java.
  • Experience developing and maintaining RESTful web services.
  • Experience utilizing SQL relational databases.
  • Experience architecting distributed and scalable systems in cloud environments AWS.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools Opsgenie or Datadog to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Supervises five (5) employees.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with non-relational databases including DynamoDB and Elasticsearch.
  • Experience leveraging data streaming and messaging platforms such as SQS, Kinesis, and Kafka.
  • Experience with systems hosted in AWS or Google cloud.
  • Experience with compliance with SMS A2P 10DLC regulations.
  • Experience improving email deliverability and reputation, including the implementation of anti-spam and phishing prevention mechanisms.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and oversee the full software project lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of software engineers, setting priorities, providing technical guidance, conducting performance evaluations, and supporting career development.
  • Drive strategic technical decisions, approving design approaches and ensuring alignment with organizational goals for the company’s communications platform.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define long-term engineering strategy, roadmap, and talent needs for the organization.
  • Establish and enforce standards around system architecture, testing, documentation, and performance benchmarks.
  • Direct engineering teams in building scalable and reliable event-driven systems utilizing Amazon Web Services, Java, and Python, with relational databases such as SQL and non-relational databases including DynamoDB and Elasticsearch, and leveraging data streaming and messaging platforms such as SQS, Kinesis, and Kafka, hosted either in AWS or Google cloud.
  • Provide oversight for projects requiring compliance with SMS A2P 10DLC regulations and design reliable systems to support messaging requirements.
  • Oversee initiatives to improve email deliverability and reputation, including the implementation of anti-spam and phishing prevention mechanisms.
