About The Position

Continuous Composites Inc. is seeking a proven Aerospace and Defense business developer to generate and close government and defense orders for its CF3D® continuous-fiber composite 3D-printing technology. The role focuses on finding and shaping government funding and requirements before solicitations are released, selecting fast paths to contract, and moving opportunities from development and prototype awards into production and programs of record. Success is measured by the dollars of orders closed. Sales are high-value, long-cycle, and complex, and often require shaping requirements and funding before a solicitation exists. The position works alongside the Sr. Director of Defense Strategy & Business Development and partners closely with Engineering, Applications, and Finance. The technology produces polymer matrix and ceramic matrix continuous-fiber composites for demanding applications including hypersonics, missiles, propulsion, reentry, and unmanned systems. The role owns capture and proposal work, including white papers, pricing strategy, and technical data rights and intellectual property considerations. Approximately 50% travel is required. Continuous Composites describes its environment as fast-moving, clear-communicating, innovative, dynamic, and hands-on. Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. and be a U.S. Person under 22 CFR 120.62 to work on ITAR or controlled information. The company generally does not provide work visa sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, materials science, aerospace, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • At least 5 years of experience in government business development, defense contracting, federal capture management, government-funded technology development, or a related field.
  • Personally closed government or defense orders in the last three to five years, with the ability to identify the awards, customers, dollar values, contract vehicles, and personal role in winning them.
  • Experience carrying high-value pursuits through long sales cycles, from first contact through award.
  • Hands-on fluency with FAR/DFARS, SBIR/STTR, OTAs, and other fast-path contracting vehicles.
  • Understanding of how program budgets are built and how appropriations reach programs.
  • Working relationships across several of the Air Force, Space Force, Army, Navy, Missile Defense Agency, DIU, DARPA, and defense prime contractors.
  • Ability to learn advanced materials and manufacturing well enough to explain the company’s value and translate customer needs to Engineering; deep product expertise is not required.
  • Experience leading or substantially writing proposals and white papers.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50%.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and lawfully able to work on ITAR or controlled information as a U.S. Person under 22 CFR 120.62.

  • Experience securing congressional adds or working with appropriations staff.
  • Experience transitioning a new material or manufacturing process into a program of record, especially additive manufacturing or composites.
  • Understanding of qualification and manufacturing-readiness challenges for new materials.
  • Background in hypersonics, missiles, high-temperature materials, or reentry systems.
  • Experience at a growth-stage defense or advanced manufacturing company.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and shape budget lines, program office funds, and congressional adds that can fund the company’s technology, and position the company in requirements before solicitations are released.
