Sr Mainframe Developer
About The Position
TekWissen is recruiting a Sr Mainframe Developer for a six-month temporary assignment supporting a client that provides information technology services and consulting. This remote role is based in Hartford, Connecticut, and focuses on developing and supporting healthcare claims applications on mainframe systems. The developer will translate business requirements into scalable, efficient, and compliant technical solutions; design, develop, test, debug, and maintain claims applications; and collaborate with business analysts, QA, project managers, and support teams. The role also provides technical leadership and mentoring to offshore team members, supports production troubleshooting and performance optimization, and contributes to testing, deployments, and post-implementation activities. The position requires 14 years of experience.
Requirements
- 14 years of experience.
- Strong experience developing applications with mainframe technologies, including COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and MQ.
- Experience with healthcare claims adjudication processes and understanding of related business workflows and operations.
- Understanding of code migration and release management, including package creation, promotion across Development, Test, QA, and Production environments, post-deployment validation, and backout procedures.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to resolve complex technical and production-support issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with business stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and offshore development teams.
- Experience working in Agile development environments and ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
- Mandatory skills: COBOL, DB2, MQ, and CICS.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement technical solutions for healthcare claims applications by translating business requirements into scalable, efficient, and compliant mainframe systems.
- Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain mainframe claims applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and MQ in accordance with coding standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, project managers, and support teams to deliver solutions and support project execution.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to offshore team members, coordinate onsite-offshore activities, and serve as a key contact for technical issue resolution.
- Troubleshoot production issues and optimize application performance.
- Conduct code reviews and support SIT, UAT, production deployments, and post-implementation activities.
