About The Position
Our client, an IT Services and Consulting company, is looking for a Sr. Mainframe Batch Operations Engineer for its Riverwoods, IL location. The role focuses on designing, maintaining, and monitoring mainframe batch schedules and processing, troubleshooting job failures, improving workflows, and supporting mainframe operations.
Requirements
- Overall 8–10 years of experience in mainframe engineering and batch job scheduling and monitoring.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain batch job schedules using IBM Scheduler (OPC), AutoSys, and Maestro/DBMaestro.
- Monitor daily batch processing cycles to ensure timely and successful completion.
- Troubleshoot and resolve scheduling and batch job failures, collaborating with application development and infrastructure operations teams as needed.
- Review job dependencies and optimize workflows to prevent bottlenecks and improve performance.
- Document batch job workflows, schedules, and operational procedures.
- Support and maintain mainframe environments to ensure batch jobs run efficiently and reliably.
- Perform regular health checks and performance tuning for mainframe batch processing.
- Participate in mainframe upgrades, migrations, and disaster recovery testing as required.
