About The Position

Ruskin Company in Grandview, MO seeks Sr. Logistics Manager. This role involves collaborating with finance on freight profit plans and forecasts, analyzing financial freight performance, presenting findings to leadership, and formulating recovery plans. The manager will direct plants on freight-related issues, conduct workshops with various teams and partners, and implement standard KPIs for continuous improvement. Responsibilities include resolving customer and internal transportation issues, developing standard operating procedures for service failures, and contributing to the commercial strategy for Product Business Units (PBUs). The role fosters collaboration between internal business partners, transportation providers, the OTM team, and plants. It also involves recommending freight RFQs, providing analytical support for logistics projects, and identifying continuous improvement initiatives with measurable savings. The Sr. Logistics Manager will develop and implement logistical processes and procedures, optimize supply chain routes to meet financial goals, and implement new processes to enhance on-time delivery. Experience with 8D problem-solving and assisting with new technology implementation for shipment tracking and MRP/ERP systems is required. Remote work is allowed 3 days per week, with reporting to the office in Grandview, MO.

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience with logistics in the manufacturing industry.
  • 5 years of experience in gathering data for analysis regarding freight, cost, timing, and damages.
  • 5 years of experience in identifying continuous improvement initiatives, including savings dollars and actions to achieve savings objectives.
  • 5 years of experience in implementing logistical processes and supply chain routes for inbound and outbound and identifying root cause and correction action.
  • 5 years of experience in trade compliance and 8D problem solving such as customs processes and applicable laws pertaining to moving international products within North America.
  • 7 years of experience in Materials Management and Plant Operations experience in the air distribution/ventilation industry, such as utilizing MM and Operations functions.
  • 4 years of experience in utilizing Transportation Management technology to perform the Transportation planning and execution function.
  • 5 years of experience in border crossing process and C-TPAT.
  • 7 years of experience with “Maquiladora” process for US/MX business.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with finance to create yearly freight profit plans and forecasts.
  • Responsible for creating bridges and business analysis on financial freight performance against monthly plan/forecasting.
  • Present monthly freight performance to leadership and formulate logistic recovery plans ensuring performance meets with expectations.
  • Direct plant to address freight related questions and collaborate with plant to solve transportation related issues.
  • Conduct workshops with the plant, procurement, transportation support team, and transportation partners.
  • Implement standard plant/carrier KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for both PBUs (Product Business Units) and transportation ensuring KPI improvement.
  • Provide resolution involving customer, internal & external, transportation issues and develop and document standard operational procedures to address service failures.
  • Participate in developing a commercial strategy for the PBUs to support business initiatives.
  • Foster daily collaboration between internal business partners, Transportation providers, OTM (Oracle Transportation Management) team, and plants.
  • Recommend purchase in annual issuance of freight RFQs (Request for Quotation), including accurate data is passed on to procurement, and executing changes from RFQs.
  • Provide analytical support for logistic projects, freight management, new business opportunities and proposals.
  • Utilize experience gathering data for analysis regarding freight, cost, timing, and damages and identifying continuous improvement initiatives, including savings dollars and actions to achieve savings objectives.
