About The Position

Amazon Leo is seeking a talented Sr. Liaison Engineer to join its Structural Integrity and Analysis team. This role focuses on innovating and solving engineering issues that arise during Amazon Leo production operations, leading up to each satellite flight. The engineer will work on the shop floor with Manufacturing and Quality teams to develop engineering dispositions for non-conformances. The position requires Material Review Board (MRB) experience in aerospace programs and the ability to balance engineering judgment with analysis rigor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in a Structural Liaison Engineer / Material Review Board (MRB) role with aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
  • Experience with the project management of technical projects
  • Strong fundamentals in structural dynamics (modal, frequency response, random vibration, sine and acoustic analyses/tests)
  • Experience with fatigue and fracture analyses
  • Knowledge of or experience with spacecraft technology and related primary, secondary and tertiary structures
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
  • Strong understanding or Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
  • Strong understanding of ANSI Y14.5M-1994 (drawing interpretation)
  • Experience with Siemens Products (Teamcenter, NX, NX Nastran)

Responsibilities

  • Review and disposition non-conformance events related to the structural integrity of the spacecraft and its ground support equipment that may occur in all phases of the Kuiper operations: procurement, storage, handling, manufacturing, assembly, testing, transportation, final integration, launch and orbital operations.
  • Develop standard repairs, rework procedures, propose design for manufacturing (DFM) improvements, improved processes and work instructions.
  • Document static, dynamic and fatigue stress analyses when needed to support dispositions, interpreting established structural analysis reports.
  • Develop analysis methods to address common structural non-conformances.
  • Work with Quality, Design, Manufacturing, Structural Engineering and experts from other engineering fields to provide root cause failure analyses.
  • Interact with internal customers, external customers, and suppliers.
