Liaison Engineer

About The Position

The Liaison Engineer serves as the technical bridge between design engineering, manufacturing operations, and external suppliers. The role translates engineering intent into manufacturable solutions on the shop floor while supporting product quality, production flow, and compliance with standards. It provides real-time troubleshooting, drives design-for-manufacturability improvements, and manages non-conformances to support efficient and reliable production. The position also collaborates across the shop floor and design office, coordinates with suppliers, and helps integrate and optimize automated and robotic technologies. Travel between facilities may be required as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment; shop-floor support experience is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to respond quickly to technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering, production, and supplier teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MRB, ECR processes, or design change workflows.
  • Experience with automation systems, robotics, or system integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate manufacturing deviations, defects, or damaged parts as part of the Material Review Board (MRB), and authorize use-as-is, repair, or scrap dispositions.
  • Identify design errors or unbuildable manufacturing plans on the shop floor and draft engineering or manufacturing change requests for design office approval.
  • Provide immediate on-the-floor technical troubleshooting to prevent manufacturing line stoppages.
  • Provide shop-floor feedback and recurring manufacturing issues to design teams to improve product revisions and tooling.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications for shop personnel to support compliance with standards.
  • Coordinate with external suppliers when raw materials or vendor-supplied components deviate from specification limits.
  • Collaborate across functions to identify, implement, and optimize automated and robotic technologies on the shop floor.
  • Serve as the technical bridge among external system integrators, design engineering, and live production operations for new automation installations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Travel between facilities as needed.
