Liaison Engineer

Keel•Goose Creek, SC

About The Position

The Liaison Engineer is the technical bridge between design engineering, manufacturing operations, and external suppliers. The role ensures engineering intent is translated into manufacturable solutions on the shop floor while supporting product quality, production flow, and compliance with standards. It provides real-time troubleshooting, advances design-for-manufacturability improvements, and manages non-conformances to enable efficient, reliable production. The position evaluates non-conforming material and supports Material Review Board decisions; identifies design errors or unbuildable manufacturing plans and drafts change requests for design office approval; and provides immediate technical support to shop-floor personnel. It also relays manufacturing feedback to design teams, interprets engineering drawings and specifications, coordinates with suppliers on deviations, and collaborates on automation and robotics projects. For new installations, the Liaison Engineer is the technical link among system integrators, design engineering, and live production operations. Travel between facilities may be needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment; shop-floor support experience is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond quickly to technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering, production, and supplier teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MRB, ECR processes, or design change workflows.
  • Experience with automation systems, robotics, or system integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate on-the-floor troubleshooting to prevent manufacturing line stoppages.
  • Communicate shop-floor feedback and recurring manufacturing issues to design teams to improve product revisions and tooling.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications for shop personnel to support compliance with standards.
  • Coordinate with external suppliers when raw materials or vendor-supplied components deviate from specifications.
  • Collaborate across functions to identify, implement, and optimize shop-floor automation and robotics.
  • Serve as the technical bridge between external system integrators, design engineering, and production for new automation installations.
