About The Position

ADP Innovation Labs is seeking a senior lead software developer with extensive Node.js experience to join an emerging, cross-skilled team designing and developing innovative products for small businesses. The role involves working with technologies including Node.js, DSQL, GraphQL, Docker, and ADLC, and helping build a modern technology stack with advanced CI/CD processes. The position combines hands-on software development and technical review with team leadership in an Agile environment. The developer participates in scrum and other Agile ceremonies, presents work at sprint demos to stakeholders, supports and motivates engineers, coordinates with teams and leaders, and communicates milestones and project status. The role also includes developing and operating software, improving performance, and building automated systems and CI/CD capabilities.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
At least 7 years of working experience with Node.js or Java.
10–12 years of experience in relevant skills gained and developed in the same or a similar role.
Experience designing and developing highly available, performant applications.
Experience with test-driven development (TDD) and advocacy for software development best practices.
Extensive experience with at least one modern programming language in addition to Node.js, such as C#, Go, or Python.
Strong experience with NoSQL and SQL databases.
Experience with cloud technology such as AWS, Jenkins, and Docker.
Familiarity with major AI platforms such as OpenAI and Anthropic, and ability to use them to enhance products and features.
Proficiency with AI-assisted coding tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Amazon Q, or Cursor.
Knowledge of AI best practices, including prompt engineering, performance optimization, and secure data handling.

Responsibilities

Develop frontend and backend services in Node.js and React.
Tune performance at both the code and database levels.
Support production software operations, test programs, and debug issues.
Develop and extend CI/CD pipelines.
Design and maintain automated monitoring, alerting, and reporting systems.
Report progress and status of assigned tasks to project teams and managers.
Build responsible applications using ReactJS.
Review team work and help team members excel in an Agile environment.
Participate in scrum and other Agile ceremonies, including sprint demos, and present work to stakeholders.
Support, motivate, and engage the engineering team and help address priorities and challenges.
Communicate milestone achievements and initiatives to senior leaders, product owners, peers, and other stakeholders.
