About The Position

emergiTEL is hiring a Senior Application Developer for the Province of Alberta’s ADX Studio Modernization – Power Pages Migration project. The role involves modernizing legacy Adxstudio portal infrastructure and migrating it to Microsoft Power Pages using Dataverse and the Enhanced Data Model. The position is primarily remote within Canada, with possible onsite meetings or work sessions in Edmonton on reasonable notice. The developer will analyze and migrate legacy portal components, including entity forms, Liquid templates, web files, and custom JavaScript. The work includes converting legacy .NET/C# business logic, refactoring CSS, migrating data and schemas, modernizing forms and lists, maintaining integrations and security, and using Microsoft Copilot or GitHub Copilot to assist with development and migration tasks. The developer will also support testing, deployment, documentation, launch activities, and onboarding of incoming technical team members. This is an initial six-month contract. Standard hours are 08:15–16:30 Alberta time, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays observed by the Province. The contractor must supply all equipment and work environment setups needed for remote work. Work must be performed from within Canada.

Requirements

University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
At least 5 years of full-stack development experience.
Hands-on experience with Adxstudio Portals and migration to Microsoft Power Pages.
Strong experience with Dataverse, including the Enhanced Data Model.
Experience with Liquid Web Templates, custom JavaScript, and CSS refactoring.
Experience translating .NET/C# business logic.
Experience with Power Platform CLI (pac ppa) and Dataverse migration tools.
Experience with external integrations, including payment processing, authentication frameworks, and SharePoint.
Experience with Dataverse Table Permissions and Web Roles.
Experience with UAT, debugging, and deployment.
Experience with Microsoft Copilot or GitHub Copilot for AI-accelerated development.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables.
Must work from within Canada.
Must supply equipment and work environment setups necessary for remote work, including a computer with a modern version of Windows or macOS compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop and related remote-access software; Windows is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Analyze legacy Adxstudio portal architecture and identify custom configurations, including adx_ entities.
Contribute to field research, lead technical discovery, and deliver solution design artifacts.
Use Microsoft Copilot, Copilot for Power Pages, and GitHub Copilot to translate legacy .NET/C# business logic into Liquid Web Templates, generate custom JavaScript, and refactor CSS.
Use Power Platform CLI (pac ppa) and Dataverse migration tools to migrate data from the standard model to the Enhanced Data Model.
Recreate Entity Forms, Web Forms, and Lists as modern Power Pages Multistep Forms.
Use AI prompt engineering to accelerate field-validation scripts and optimize code.
Maintain functionality across external integrations, including payment processing, authentication frameworks, and SharePoint.
Map legacy security roles to Dataverse Table Permissions and Web Roles.
Perform user acceptance testing (UAT), debug migration errors using AI diagnostic workflows, and support launch activities.
Maintain technical documentation and onboard incoming technical team members.
