Sr. Lead Application Developer

About The Position

ADP Innovation Labs is seeking a senior lead software developer with extensive Node.js experience to join an emerging, cross-skilled team designing and developing innovative products for small businesses. The role works with technologies including Node.js, DSQL, GraphQL, Docker, and ADLC, and contributes to a state-of-the-art technology stack with modern continuous integration and delivery processes. The team is customer- and feedback-oriented and adapts quickly. The position combines hands-on software development with technical leadership. The developer participates in scrum and other agile ceremonies, helps coordinate engineering priorities, supports and motivates team members, reviews work, and presents sprint demos to stakeholders. The role also involves collaboration with teams in India, leadership, product owners, and peers across departments. The developer builds frontend and backend services, improves application and database performance, supports production operations, extends CI/CD pipelines, and maintains automated monitoring, alerting, and reporting systems. ADP seeks someone with 10–12 years of experience in relevant skills and a bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
10–12 years of experience in relevant skills gained in the same or a similar role.
At least 7 years of working experience with Node.js or Java.
Experience designing and developing highly available, performant applications.
Test-driven development (TDD) experience and advocacy for software development best practices.
Extensive experience with at least one modern programming language in addition to Node.js, such as C#, Go, or Python.
Strong experience with NoSQL and SQL databases.
Experience with cloud technology such as AWS, Jenkins, and Docker.
Familiarity with major AI platforms such as OpenAI and Anthropic, and ability to use them to enhance products and features.
Proficiency with AI-assisted coding tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Amazon Q, or Cursor.
Knowledge of prompt engineering, performance optimization, and secure data handling.

DevOps and build engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Develop frontend and backend services in Node.js and React.
Tune performance at both the code and database levels.
Support production software operations, and test and debug programs.
Develop and extend CI/CD pipelines.
Design and maintain automated monitoring, alerting, and reporting systems.
Report progress and status of assigned tasks to project teams and managers.
Build applications using ReactJS.
Participate in scrum and other agile ceremonies, including sprint demos.
Coordinate engineering priorities, identify team challenges, and support team members' productivity and development.
Review team work and help deliver polished products in an Agile environment.
Collaborate with teams in India, leadership, product owners, and peers across departments; present milestone achievements and initiatives to stakeholders and senior leaders.
