About The Position

The Sr IT Systems Engineer designs, integrates, enhances, and secures enterprise infrastructure across on-premises, private cloud, and public cloud environments. The role covers server, storage, network, virtualization, compliance, process automation, and application software infrastructure, along with associated administration and maintenance plans. The engineer ensures infrastructure practices meet industry standards and changing business demands. The position provides technical leadership, guidance, and support to Systems Engineers and other IT staff; develops infrastructure administration and maintenance standards; and reports on capacity and performance. It also oversees technical documentation, evaluates technology and security developments, manages disaster recovery implementation and testing, supports training, maintains relationships with external partners, and directs internal and vendor teams in infrastructure design, implementation, and problem resolution. The ideal candidate has experience with highly available enterprise virtualization, storage architecture, data protection, disaster recovery, Windows Server, infrastructure automation, identity and access management, and hybrid environments. The role calls for strong troubleshooting and communication skills, as well as the ability to lead modernization, migration, upgrade, and optimization initiatives.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related field and four years of experience in computer programming and operating systems analysis, or equivalent.
Experience designing and managing enterprise virtualization platforms in highly available environments.
Strong knowledge of enterprise storage architecture, data protection, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
Expertise administering and optimizing Windows Server infrastructure and core platform services.
Experience automating infrastructure processes using scripting and modern management tools.
Thorough understanding of identity and access management, including Microsoft Entra ID, modern authentication, and Zero Trust security principles.
Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure environments spanning on-premises and cloud platforms.
Ability to lead infrastructure modernization initiatives, migrations, upgrades, and performance optimization efforts.
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to partner across technical and business teams.
Ability to communicate technical concepts and provide explanations or information to internal and/or external customers.
Ability to perform analyses involving ratios, percentages, and simple statistical methods.
High level of computer skills, familiarity with software packages, and familiarity with hardware configurations for systems administration.
Ability to lift specified weights, climb a ladder, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, and generate upward force, as detailed in the physical demands.

Responsibilities

Design, integrate, enhance, and secure server, storage, network, virtualization, compliance, process automation, and application software infrastructure across on-premises, private cloud, and public cloud environments.
Assist, mentor, and provide technical direction, leadership, guidance, and support to Systems Engineers and other IT staff.
Guide technical information collection, planning, analysis, standards development, and prioritization for enterprise infrastructure administration and maintenance.
Analyze and forecast infrastructure capacity and performance, and present reports to IT management for regular reviews of service-level agreement performance.
Create and approve technical document libraries and technical documentation for IT staff and management in accordance with cybersecurity, regulatory, and Enterprise Architecture standards.
Review research into IT disciplines, regulations, trends, cybersecurity, and infrastructure management, and recommend changes or enhancements to IT management and Enterprise Architecture.
Develop, manage, and report on scheduled disaster recovery implementations, maintenance, and testing to ensure applications meet RPO/RTO, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements.
Review and approve the development, organization, scheduling, and presentation of training and documentation about enterprise infrastructure processes and procedures.
Maintain working relationships with outside organizations, partners, and other resources to improve infrastructure and meet service-level agreements and changing demands.
Organize and direct internal IT staff and external technical or vendor support teams in infrastructure design, integration, implementation support, and problem resolution.
