Sr IT Software Engineer
About The Position
The Senior IT Software Engineer on the Data & Analytics team designs, builds, and supports full-stack applications and integrates AI technologies into new and existing applications to deliver business solutions. The role champions AI tooling and AI-SDLC practices, including spec-based development and harness engineering, and collaborates with developers and IT Product Management to align deliverables, oversee CI/CD deployments, and provide production support. The engineer will lead the design and delivery of scalable services using technologies including Python, Django, FastAPI, React, GraphQL, and Google Cloud Platform. The role evolves core architecture and advances AI-native engineering, ensuring traditional microservices and agentic workflows are resilient, scalable, and innovative.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
- Professional backend development experience with Python and frameworks such as Django or FastAPI, designing and building fault-tolerant microservice architectures.
- Professional experience deploying, maintaining, and optimizing production Generative AI or LLM-powered applications.
- Hands-on experience with LLM orchestration and agentic frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or native cloud Agent SDKs.
- Strong technical understanding and hands-on experience with RAG architectures, including vector embeddings, semantic search, and vector databases.
- Experience implementing LLM guardrails, prompt-engineering best practices, and prompt-injection defenses.
- Expertise in front-end development with JavaScript, TypeScript, and React.
- Strong proficiency in Docker and Kubernetes (GKE).
- Track record of delivering complex software solutions from concept to production.
- Strong proficiency in one or more databases, such as BigQuery, MongoDB, or Postgres.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern CI/CD practices.
- Understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, system design, and testing.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work cross-functionally.
Nice To Haves
- Track record of architecting, deploying, and scaling production-grade Generative AI and LLM-powered applications.
- Experience implementing robust AI evaluation workflows, selecting metrics, and building automated testing methodologies for generative AI applications.
- Deep, hands-on Google Cloud Platform experience, particularly Google Vertex AI, including Vertex AI Evaluation services.
- Production-level knowledge of Agent SDK, LangChain, or LangGraph frameworks, A2A protocols, and implementing MCP servers.
- Professional experience using Agentic IDEs such as Cursor or Windsurf.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support full-stack applications across front-end, back-end, and data layers.
- Apply AI-SDLC methods throughout development, using AI-assisted coding, testing, and review tools to improve engineering velocity and quality.
- Design and build end-to-end agentic workflows, including orchestration, tool integration, evaluation, and production monitoring, using the Vertex AI Agent SDK or alternatives such as LangChain or LangGraph and A2A protocols.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Own the full feature lifecycle, including architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues to support high availability and application performance.
- Take accountability for cross-team project outcomes and ensure AI and software solutions meet enterprise standards for security, quality, and performance.
- Contribute to engineering best practices, documentation, and ongoing development-process improvements.
- Collaborate with developers and IT Product Management to align deliverables, oversee CI/CD pipeline deployments, and provide production support.
