About The Position

Rivian is hiring an experienced Senior Field Service Technician to serve as a technical expert and leader supporting complex vehicle repairs and field operations. The role focuses on advanced diagnostics, mentoring junior technicians, continuous improvement, and solving complex technical challenges. It is based primarily at a service center, but may involve remote work, travel to remote locations, or support at production plants as business needs require. The technician performs advanced vehicle diagnostics, repairs, installations, and inspections; supports field teams with remote troubleshooting; and uses specialized diagnostic tools to address complex electrical, high-voltage, and network faults. The position also involves quality verification, parts operations, thorough technical documentation, root-cause analysis, and professional engagement with customers, suppliers, and internal teams. Applicants should have extensive automotive repair and high-voltage diagnostic experience, advanced expertise across vehicle systems, and the ability to coach others and drive consistent repair processes. The role requires a standard 40-hour workweek and may include weekends, holidays, and early morning, evening, or overnight shifts. Regional travel and physical work—including lifting up to 50 pounds—may be required.

  • Advanced knowledge of automotive electronics, CAN and LIN bus communications, electrical schematics, and precise wiring harness repairs.
  • Expertise in chassis service, including alignments and braking systems, and diagnosis of ABS, traction control, power steering, and NVH concerns.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC systems, coolant drain/fill operations, A/C machine use, 609 refrigerant certification, and thermal management diagnostics.
