About The Position

The Senior Estimator/Project Manager is responsible for managing requests for quotes and developing accurate, detailed estimates in alignment with company standards. This role also assumes project management responsibilities, which may vary based on project size and complexity. For smaller, in-trade projects, the Senior Estimator/Project Manager may manage projects independently; for larger, multi-trade projects, they will collaborate closely with the Contracts Project Management team. This position may work individually or lead a team of estimators within the department or with other trades to deliver comprehensive cost estimates that reflect the full scope of work. The Senior Estimator/Project Manager takes full ownership of the estimate throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and client expectations. Additionally, this role supports the growth and development of junior and early-career estimators, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable team environment. As a key stakeholder, the Senior Estimator/Project Manager plays a vital role in driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency across estimating and project management processes. The ideal candidate actively identifies and implements opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce risk, and improve project outcomes. Success in this role depends on strong collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and cross-functional teams—to ensure alignment, clarity, and effective execution from concept to completion.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in estimating/project management.
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or construction-related technology, OR extensive and related work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge, skills and abilities described above.
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction means/methods and experience estimating for multi-trade required projects.
  • Experience with estimating software including Procore and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment, independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail; strong communication, interpersonal, leadership and team-building skills.
  • Organizing and managing workloads efficiently, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Resourceful and diligent in seeking solutions to problems and adapting to new situations.
  • May require travel both locally and out-of-state based on project requirements.

  • OSHA 30 or 510 certifications beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Attend site visits to review site conditions and develop an accurate scope of work.
  • Prepare detailed labor and material take-offs using estimating methods.
  • Review and submit supplier, distributor & subcontractor proposals to include in the bid package.
  • Participate in the process of finalizing a complete scope of work in combination with other trade estimators and the Sales Department for submission to clients.
  • Effectively lead and guide estimators in all estimating functions to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Ensures the department's estimating processes are accurate, efficient, and meet company standards. For projects where the department is Primary, review estimates from ancillary departments for appropriateness.
  • Lead coordination of operational input during estimating, bidding, and job award process.
  • Follow up on requested revisions with the Sales Department and suppliers during the proposal period.
  • Identifies areas for improvement in the estimating process and implements changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Act as the project lead for jobs where the department is Primary and there is no assigned Construction PM.
  • Ensure all safety protocols are identified and communicated to the field.
  • Attend site visits to review the progress of the project.
  • Manage the requirements for material, equipment and manpower for assigned projects.
  • Upon award of contracts, review pricing and assist with selecting compliant vendors and subcontractors for the purpose of issuing purchase orders, apply for required permits, review the project details and estimates with the field supervisor prior to the start date.
  • Ensure accurate and complete information regarding the project requirements are communicated to field personnel assigned to the project daily both verbally and in writing using the job ticket system.
  • Determine the scope of change orders as the project progresses using appropriate estimating methods.
  • May be required to be on-site depending on customer/project requirements.
  • Attend safety, training, sales, strategy and other meetings as required.
