Sr. Engineering Manager - Payments

Cedar
$221,000 - $260,000Remote

About The Position

Cedar's mission is to make healthcare more affordable and accessible by leveraging data science, smart product design, and personalization. As healthcare providers continue to use a one-size-fits-all approach to consumer engagement, Cedar aims to deliver a superior experience by applying consumer best practices. The company is expanding its product offerings, with payments at the core of its operations. To support these new offerings at scale, Cedar is evolving its payment capabilities and platform. This role is crucial for leading two Payments teams through this platform evolution, comprising both individual contributors and engineering managers. The current payments platform is tightly coupled with business logic, hindering scalability across multiple product lines. There are also opportunities to enhance system observability for better health monitoring, faster issue diagnosis, and an improved payment experience. The Payments Pillar's responsibilities extend beyond the platform itself, including enabling payment capabilities in agentic workflows, optimizing the Payments funnel performance, managing engineering partnerships with third-party payment vendors, and collaborating with Product and Commercial teams to prioritize client payment feature requests. The role involves working closely with staff and principal engineers to define technical direction, evaluate trade-offs, challenge assumptions, and contribute an independent perspective. While not requiring daily coding, the role demands comfort in design reviews, technical decision-making, deep service understanding, and accountability for outcomes.
