About The Position

The Global Data Office is responsible for Visa's future strategies, policies, and business successes related to data, which are key to future growth prospects. The office aims to unlock the value of data for consumers, businesses, and communities through innovative use. The Global Data Office coordinates high-impact, complex, company-wide projects related to data business strategy, critical investments, policy development, and marketplace execution. This role supports the Vice President of Infrastructure, Data Engineering, and Business Intelligence within the Global Data Office. Key duties include developing comprehensive data strategies and implementing advanced technological processes. The position requires close collaboration with senior leaders across various departments to ensure alignment and integration of data management practices throughout the organization. Responsibilities also encompass the establishment and enhancement of robust data management practices, which will involve leveraging skills in product management, platform development, and stakeholder management. This role offers significant opportunities for professional growth and the application of expertise in these critical areas. It is expected that the individual in this role will contribute meaningfully to the strategic objectives of the Global Data Office by fostering innovation, ensuring data integrity, and driving efficient data utilization across the enterprise.

Requirements

12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD
Degree in an analytical field such as computer science, statistics, finance, economics or adjacent areas.
5+ years of experience leading data management functions and related processes, like data engineers or data scientists
1+ years of experience with cloud technologies
5+ years of experience managing large, global and distributed teams to scope and deliver business outcomes preferably in a financial services or consulting setting
Fundamental and broad knowledge of common data management, data engineering tools and methodologies
Expert knowledge of technology processes for data management (For e.g. Apache Spark, Postman, Artifactory, Python, Scikit Learn, Pandas, GitHub etc.)
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience
Exposure to Financial Services/ Payments data analytics and ETL development.
Desirable exposure to Marketing, Authorization, Fraud & Chargeback Analytics.
Familiarity with payments, lending and consulting is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

Define, architect, and execute global merchant data strategy for Visa, focusing on scaling data products and solutions that utilize this data.
Manage a team of product managers, data analysts, and process managers to deliver on the target architecture for merchant data.
Lay out the vision and strategy for each aspect of merchant data, from data ingestion and acquisition to platforms and publishing.
Collaborate and influence senior leadership to directly impact company strategy and direction.
Liaise with various stakeholders including product managers, marketing, data science, data engineering, and technology teams.
Evangelize technical approaches to data enrichment and publishing, including data partnerships, data quality measurement, and product-led prioritization processes.
Build and manage a team of talented product managers, process managers, and data analysts.
Work with technology and business teams on Data Governance, Data Quality, and Data Architecture initiatives.
Effectively communicate technical insights and recommendations with business customers and leadership teams.
