About The Position

As the Senior Director of Operations, you will provide strategic leadership and direction for the organization’s operational functions, including planning, production, and customer service. This senior-level role involves developing and executing long-term strategies to drive operational excellence, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction. You will lead cross-functional teams to ensure consistent, scalable, and compliant operations processes and standards. The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. IAS tailors solutions to customer cost, performance, and schedule requirements and designs to consistently exceed expectations – with an unrivaled record of on time and on (or under) budget deliveries.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain or a related field of study.
• 15+ years of relevant experience, with at least 8+ years in a leadership role. Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 19 years of related experience is required. Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
• Expert knowledge of manufacturing, production, and logistics processes.
• Proven experience in leading large-scale continuous process improvement initiatives.
• Experience leading and coordinating large, multi-location operations.
• Advanced knowledge of production/manufacturing principles, techniques, and warehousing best practices.
• Experience with materials management systems.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret complex technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications.
• Excellent customer-facing experience.
• Proven leadership abilities inclusive of successful change management, mentoring, career development, training, succession planning, holding people accountable, and conducting yearly reviews.
• Proven experience and skills in team building, time management, conflict resolution, communication, briefing, presentation, and strategic thinking.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly express concepts in verbal and written forms.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in a related field.
• Extensive experience in the aerospace and defense industry.
• Professional certification such as Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
• Advanced proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and data analysis tools.
• Ability to navigate change and uncertainty, make defensible decisions in ambiguity and own those decisions.
• Mastery to drive innovative thinking, lead and inspire teams, instill collaboration, challenge status quo, manage complex situations, delegate authority, and demonstrate ability to adapt to dynamic situations.

• Demonstrated passion for ideation, intellectual curiosity, and innovation, as well as motivating others to act by creating a shared sense of vision or purpose.
• Proven long-term and strategic perspective that extends beyond the immediate initiatives; visualizes and articulates a clear direction.
• Team oriented with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense (Civilian), NASA/Civil or commercial space and/or US Military, with an understanding of defense, aerospace, intelligence, and adjacent markets.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute long-term strategic plans to achieve operational excellence.
• Lead and oversee initiatives to improve planning, production, customer service, and logistics operations.
• Ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) regulations and standards.
• Drive advanced continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
• Develop and maintain scalable and consistent operations processes, procedures, and standards.
• Mentor and develop senior operations leaders and managers.
• Conduct comprehensive operations reviews to assess performance against strategic objectives.
• Manage and optimize operational budgets to achieve financial goals.
• Provide executive-level guidance to the Program Management Office on production operations-related issues.
• Align operations strategies with the company’s mission, vision, and growth objectives.
