About The Position

We are seeking a results driven, Sr. Director of Technical Services to lead the development and growth of Hudson’s strategic services businesses. This is an executive leadership role where you will be expected to build new national businesses as part of a focused growth incubator within Hudson Technologies. The role oversees two growth initiatives and one existing services business. The position is responsible for managing and building the existing teams to support these businesses as well as working with Hudson operations to build the infrastructure required to support these businesses and drive revenue growth, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance across nationwide proactive services and refrigerant recovery programs. This executive leader will include commercial responsibilities and oversee a network of depots, proactive service operations and includes a fleet of specialized small-format recovery trucks and field technicians, ensuring high-volume, compliant, and cost-efficient refrigerant removal from customer HVAC systems and potentially refrigerant testing. You will work closely with Hudson’s leadership team, operations, marketing, and sales reporting to the SVP of Operations. This role combines strategic business leadership with hands-on operational oversight, requiring strong commercial acumen, regulatory expertise, and field engagement.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and cross-functionally to create, and drive a profitable growth business
  • Strong strategic planning, operational problem-solving, and change management capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence both executive stakeholders and field teams
  • Deep understanding of EPA 608 regulations and refrigerant recovery compliance requirements.
  • Expertise with refrigerant recovery equipment, including vacuum pumps, recovery cylinders, and scales.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in HVAC/R, refrigerant recovery, or environmental services.
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience managing field-based operations.
  • Proven success in route optimization, logistics, and B2B sales/customer relationship management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Recovery and Exchange Team and lead them in the creation of a fully National Recovery and Exchange Business
  • Oversee the R-Side services businesses focused on chiller technical support.
  • Lead the development of a new Proactive Service Team from pilot stage to fully fledged business.
  • Help recruit, manage and support key positions supporting these businesses
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and accountability to ensure consistent performance and development.
  • Manage departmental budgets and track total cost of ownership (TCO), including fuel consumption, equipment repair, and asset utilization.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs such as recovery volumes, revenue per truck, margin performance, safety metrics, and customer satisfaction.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance profitability and efficiency
  • Work with marketing to adjust and develop business strategies to maximize financial performance and strategic impact
  • Develop and execute regional growth strategies to increase market share and achieve revenue targets
  • Work with the Hudson commercial team to leverage existing business relationships
  • Identify and secure new proactive service contracts through developing target end user market segments
  • Identify and secure new recovery contracts through partnerships with HVAC contractors, industrial facilities, and municipal waste programs.
  • Own pipeline development and sales funnel management to drive sustained growth.
  • Serve as executive sponsor for key accounts, ensuring long-term customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Work with Hudson Operations and Marketing teams to develop long-term views of infrastructure required to support businesses
  • Oversee the establishment of new facilities to support National Service Model
  • Oversee full lifecycle management of the small-format truck fleet, including procurement, equipment maintenance, utilization optimization, and decommissioning.
  • Oversee the optimization of route planning and dispatch processes to reduce downtime and improve service responsiveness.
  • Spend significant time in the field to assess performance, support teams, and ensure operational consistency.
  • Ensure full compliance with EPA Section 608 regulations and all applicable DOT and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain rigorous documentation of refrigerant types, recovery weights, and disposal/reclamation chains to ensure audit readiness.
  • Champion a safety-first culture, implementing accident prevention programs and enforcing proper PPE usage across all field operations.
  • Lead and develop field leaders, recovery technicians, and cylinder exchange staff.
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, safety, customer service, and operational excellence.
  • Drive organizational change and scale operations in alignment with growth objectives.
