About The Position

Legends Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Director of Technical Services at NRG Park in Houston, Texas. NRG Park is in the fast lane for opportunity and excitement. We are a one-of-a-kind premier facility with four major venues within one giant park. NRG Center (one million+ sq. ft. Convention Center), NRG Stadium (home of the Houston Texans and The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo), NRG Astrodome (“The” Astrodome), and NRG Arena. We are seeking a unique Director of Technical Services to join our Technical Services team. The Director of Technical Services oversees the operations of Information Technologies, Telecommunications, Audio Visual, and Broadcast Services. Serves as a direct liaison for facility audio visual services for the primary tenants of NRG Park (Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and Houston Texans NFL Football), as well as for temporary use by events and shows. Manage day-to-day department operations, event technical production, budgeting, and maintenance of various technical systems. Also, acts as liaison between the facility and clients, ensuring all clients’ requirements are met, and facility rules, regulations, and policies are adhered to.

  • Understand and work with technical blueprints, sketches, plans, event documents, and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and six (6) years of technical services experience in the field; or an equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • (6) Years of supervising experience.
  • Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
  • Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
  • Extensive knowledge of IT systems, including but not limited to PC/Mac hardware components, operating systems, software, and network switches, etc.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise network infrastructure and cybersecurity technologies, including hands-on experience or administrative oversight of Cisco networking environments and Palo Alto firewall platforms used for network security and threat prevention.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with modern business productivity platforms, including Microsoft 365 applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams, and the ability to utilize digital collaboration tools to manage communications, documentation, and operational workflows.

  • Ability to work extended and irregular hours may vary due to events and functions and may include nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Be licensed to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Provides executive oversight and guidance for broadcast coordination activities , ensuring the Technical Services team serves as the primary liaison with national, regional, and local network broadcasters utilizing NRG Park facilities and that all event-day broadcast requirements are effectively supported.
  • Oversees the planning and execution of in-house video production operations for events hosted at NRG Stadium, ensuring the Technical Services team manages budgeting, system design, and the integration of third-party video production equipment as required.
  • Serves as a senior point of coordination for facility tenants and event partners, ensuring their operational and technical needs are understood, prioritized, and supported through effective collaboration with internal departments and technical teams.
  • Directs the planning, design, and lifecycle management of facility audio systems, broadcast infrastructure, and visual display technologies, ensuring that the Technical Services team evaluates, implements, and maintains systems that meet operational and broadcast standards.
  • Provides oversight of billing and cost recovery processes for Broadcast and Technical Services, ensuring that invoices for services provided are accurately generated and processed by the appropriate team members.
  • Negotiate and manage agreements with vendors to provide broadcast transmission services on-site.
  • Provides executive oversight of the Information Technology function, including direct supervision of the IT Manager, ensuring effective management of IT staff, infrastructure, and service delivery in support of NRG Park operations and events.
  • Oversees cybersecurity governance, risk management, and audit readiness, ensuring the IT and cybersecurity team maintain compliance with organizational policies, insurance requirements, and applicable industry frameworks, and coordinating internal and third-party cybersecurity assessments and remediation efforts.
  • Negotiate and manage agreements with telecommunications subcontractors to provide voice, internet, and telecommunications services to Legends Global for resale at trade shows, conventions, and events on-site.
  • Works closely with the telecommunications subcontractor to support facility voice and internet services for Legends Global, HCSCC (primary client), permanent tenants (Houston Texans and Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo), and temporary users, as requested.
  • Negotiate and manage agreement with Wi-Fi sub-contractor to provide the Stadium Wi-Fi system.
  • Negotiate and manage agreements with third-party vendors to deliver Voice, Internet, and Long-Distance services to the site.
  • Manage lead carrier agreements for on-site building (DAS) and parking lot (O-DAS) cellular systems.
  • Negotiate and manage agreements with individual cellular carriers to participate on the site DAS systems.
  • Provides leadership and oversight for the Technical Services team responsible for audio-visual services, event video and scoreboard operations, and facility-wide AV systems, ensuring reliable support for events and daily stadium operations.
  • Directs the development, implementation, and ongoing oversight of preventive maintenance and operational procedures for critical technical infrastructure, including sound systems, matrix and video displays, electronic marquees, radio systems, lighting control systems, intercom systems, and RF television distribution systems.
  • Negotiate and manage agreements with third-party vendors to provide audiovisual services for events on-site.
  • Work closely with the Exhibitor Services department to oversee management of third-party Audio-Visual Companies providing services to trade shows and conventions.
  • Provides oversight and strategic direction for the operation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of stadium visual display systems , including the scoreboard, video and LED boards, television networks, and associated signal distribution infrastructure, ensuring reliable performance for events and daily operations.
  • On behalf of Legends Global and permanent tenants (as necessary), negotiate and manage annual and periodic maintenance agreements with appropriate vendors for department-related installations and equipment on site.
  • Provide oversight and direction for hiring and scheduling part-time and contract employees to operate scoreboard facilities.
  • Provide oversight for the use and operation of LED advertising displays with primary tenant rights holders.
  • Supervise and ensure proper maintenance procedures are followed to maintain the integrity of all technical equipment at facility.
  • Generates department budget.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director of Operations to prepare and negotiate service agreements.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Serves as MOD (Manager on Duty) as required.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
