Reporting into the VP, Corporate Responsibility, this role is critical to ensuring Corporate Responsibility programs operate at scale with consistency, compliance, and measurable impact. Requirements

  • Experience with corporate philanthropy, CSR, and/or related areas.
  • Strong strategic thinking. Experience and ability to develop and articulate complex strategic issues and ideas (e.g., Research strategy, corporate strategy). Must be able to both verbally articulate a story and have strong PowerPoint skills to develop executive level slide sets.
  • Nimble and agile. Ability to work on multiple projects with overlapping timelines and meet all deadlines. Needs to be able to quickly digest and prioritize information.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience in executive communications, working with senior leaders to produce high-quality communications materials under tight timelines.
  • Long Term Strategic Planning- experience with either long term strategic planning, Research/innovation planning, or corporate strategy development.
  • Development of materials (models, slides) for executive level discussions on these topics. Prior experience participating or leading strategic planning activities.
  • Ability to produce impact reports, develop KPI's, metrics to be rolled out to grantees.
  • Industry knowledge- must be adept and knowledgeable about the biotech and biopharma segment. Must know key players, their portfolios, strengths and weaknesses.
  • Ability to understand key drivers of success in sector and have a point of view on these as it pertains to Gilead.
  • Familiar with emerging technologies and strategic themes in industry (digital health, M&A trends. Pricing environment, regional nuances, commercial models, etc.)
  • Gilead knowledge- must understand our portfolio (Research, Clinical Development, and Commercial) as well as historical context of company moves. Must have deep understanding and knowledge of current Therapeutic Areas.
  • Ethics, integrity and maturity to work with senior level leaders and comport themselves appropriately
  • Strong team oriented ethos and collaborative style
  • Ability to work cross functionally and understand the motivations of colleagues in other functions
  • Ability to influence across all parts of the organization

  • Preference for experience at top tier agency or consulting firm.

Responsibilities

  • Structure and execute operational, planning and strategic Research and Development initiatives.
  • Facilitate development and implementation of processes to optimize organizational effectiveness.
  • Lead Research and Development communication strategy, planning, content development and execution.
  • In collaboration with key internal stakeholders develop change management plans associated with cross-functional initiatives and projects within the Research and Development organization.
