About The Position

This position is responsible for fundraising and portfolio management, including identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift prospects with a focus on gifts of $100,000 and above. The role involves managing a portfolio of fundraising prospects, administering strategic plans for major gifts, and providing leadership and support to other development officers. Additionally, the position will be involved in leadership and strategic initiatives, including building and managing a team of advancement professionals, directing multiple development officers, and serving in a leadership role within WCB Advancement. Strategic planning, budget management, and fundraising for special projects are also key components of this role. The position requires a strong understanding of fundraising principles, strategic thinking, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of experience.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift prospects ($100,000+).
  • Manage a portfolio of fundraising prospects and relationships through face-to-face visits to close major gift solicitations.
  • Administer strategic plans for major gift, leadership, and principal gift prospects.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects aligned with WCB's needs and priorities.
  • Research and determine primary targets for cultivation and solicitation, devising strategies for each foundation prospect.
  • Provide leadership and support to WCB development officers to increase support and determine appropriate gift requests.
  • Engage WCB dean, directors, faculty, and development officers to identify needs and priorities.
  • Lead solicitation efforts with faculty and department leadership when appropriate.
  • Build, manage, and lead a team of advancement professionals.
  • Directly manage multiple development officers, including coaching, goal setting, performance reviews, and development.
  • Serve in a leadership role within WCB Advancement, tracking progress and supporting team members for fundraising success.
  • Identify and recruit top talent, providing leadership and counsel on fundraising matters.
  • Manage staff using talent management best practices and ensure best practices in office systems, practices, files, and record keeping.
  • Ensure effective use of strategic tools and resources such as contact reports, prospect management, research, analysis, and the CRM database.
  • Provide support to the Executive Director of Advancement for staffing the Business Advisory Council.
  • Participate in recruiting experienced leadership on boards and/or committees.
  • Develop annual and individual strategic plans, including goals and objectives.
  • Develop strategy for the college’s next fundraising campaign in partnership with the Executive Director.
  • Track and report annual and campaign progress in team meetings and to College and UFA leadership.
  • Plan and monitor the budget, using resources for best results in fundraising and planning activities.
  • Responsible for fundraising for special projects.
  • Assist with maintaining files and records, and planning activities involving volunteers, prospects, and administration.
