About The Position

This position focuses on fundraising and portfolio management, requiring the individual to independently perform identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift prospects, with a focus on individual prospects assessed at $100,000 and above. The role involves managing a portfolio of fundraising prospects, strategically managing relationships through face-to-face visits to bring major gift solicitations to closure, and administering strategic plans for major gift/leadership/principal gift prospects. The individual will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects that align with the needs, priorities, and research of WCB. This includes researching and making independent judgments about primary target prospects for cultivation and solicitation, and devising strategies for each foundation prospect. The role also involves providing leadership and support to WCB development officers to increase support and determine appropriate gift requests, as well as proactively engaging WCB dean, directors, faculty, and development officers to identify needs and priorities. The position will work with faculty and department leadership and lead solicitation efforts when appropriate. In terms of leadership and strategic initiatives, the role involves working with the Executive Director to build, manage, and lead a strong team of advancement professionals, directly managing multiple development officers including coaching, goal setting, performance reviews, and development. The individual will serve in a leadership role within WCB Advancement, tracking progress and supporting team members to ensure fundraising success. This includes identifying and recruiting top talent, providing counsel on fundraising matters, and establishing goals aligned with unit objectives, developing metrics, and strategic planning. Staff management will be conducted using talent management best practices, ensuring best practices in office systems, practices, files, and record keeping, and effective use of strategic tools like contact reports, prospect management, research, analysis, and the CRM database. The position will support the Executive Director of Advancement for staffing the Business Advisory Council and participate in recruiting experienced leadership for boards and/or committees. For strategy and planning, the role involves developing annual and individual strategic plans, working closely with the Executive Director and WCB Leadership to develop strategy for the college’s next fundraising campaign, and tracking/reporting progress. Budget planning and monitoring are also key responsibilities. The role is also responsible for fundraising for special projects and assisting with maintaining files and records.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience OR a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of experience.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift prospects ($100,000+).
  • Manage a portfolio of fundraising prospects and strategically manage relationships through face-to-face visits to bring major gift solicitations to closure.
