About The Position

BIICS, Inc. is seeking a Senior Database Administrator for the Enhanced Field System (EFS) modernization project. The position is located in Tallahassee, Florida. The incumbent must live in Florida and be able to present on-site if needed. Staff are required to be off the week of Christmas and New Year unless services are required with prior approval from division leadership. The role manages and maintains production and non-production EFS databases and the EFS migration process, and maintains and updates the DEL website Parent Portal as necessary. The administrator contributes to project activities and deliverables, reports project progress to stakeholders and leadership, and ensures database maintenance, access, and security standards are followed. The position also supports contingency planning, addresses obstacles to implementation, participates in State and Federal stakeholder calls as needed, and maintains knowledge of database administration practices applicable to the project.

Requirements

At least 8 years of experience working with various database management systems in database design, testing, implementation, maintenance, and administration of multiple-platform environments.
At least 8 years of experience writing complex, efficient queries, views, stored procedures, and user-defined functions with MS T/SQL.
At least 5 years of experience with MS SQL Server and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), including parameters, sub-reports, drill-down technologies, and subscriptions.
At least 5 years of experience producing technical documentation related to requirements, specifications, traceability matrices, designs, or testing.
At least 3 years of experience creating and maintaining reports in Azure Power BI.
At least 3 years of experience developing web applications.
At least 2 years of experience working with Azure Dev Ops and Visual Studio .NET.
At least 3 years of experience administering cloud database platforms, including Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database, and/or Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
Expertise aligning application strategies with data security standards and regulatory requirements.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.
Demonstrated experience with large-scale implementation projects.
Expert knowledge of relational database management systems and database architecture principles.
Strong performance tuning and troubleshooting skills in complex database environments.
Experience reducing query response times and improving application performance through database optimization techniques.
Experience optimizing cloud database resource utilization and supporting cloud cost management initiatives.
Ability to analyze complex database environments and recommend performance, scalability, availability, and optimization strategies.
Experience supporting high-volume transactional and analytical database workloads.
Experience with performance engineering and database tuning methodologies.
Must live in Florida and be able to present on-site if needed.

Responsibilities

Manage and maintain all production and non-production databases related to the Enhanced Field System (EFS) modernization project.
Manage and maintain the EFS migration process.
Maintain and update the DEL website Parent Portal as necessary.
Participate in meetings and other project activities to produce project deliverables.
Produce monthly status reports outlining accomplishments and planned activities for the following month.
Apply understanding of project requirements and goals to produce project deliverables.
Communicate project progress and information to key stakeholders.
Assist with preparing information for the program leadership team, executive steering committee, and project management, as appropriate.
Ensure technical direction and standards for database maintenance, access, and security are followed.
Identify and eliminate obstacles to solution plans, business goals, or implementation.
Assist in developing and implementing contingency plans.
Participate in conference calls with State and Federal stakeholders as necessary.
Research and maintain knowledge of database administration and its potential application to the project or program.
Review requirements, testing, development, and architectural documents and plans to ensure implementation will result in the system required by the user.
