About The Position

BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Contracts Manager to lead two Product Areas within the Space Systems Product Line (part of the C4ISR Systems Business Area). This role involves owning contract strategy and execution for FAR Part 12 and FAR Part 15, supporting space mission solutions for the warfighter. The ideal candidate will have experience in development, production, and sustainment programs, commercial agreements, change proposals, and pursuits. Responsibilities include advising Product Line and executive leadership, ensuring compliance with minimal supervision, and building strong customer relationships. This position also involves leading a team of direct reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • 10+ years of U.S. Government/Defense contracting experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Direct-report management experience leading contracts professionals, including hiring, coaching, performance reviews, and workload/prioritization.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Proven leadership of contracts on development, production, and sustainment programs (DoD/IC) including change proposals and complex modifications.
  • Hands‑on expertise with FAR/DFARS, Part 12 & Part 15, TINA/Truthful Cost or Pricing Data, IP/data rights, and prime/subcontract flow‑downs.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills; ability to present options and implications to senior leadership.
  • Strong business acumen: strategic planning, financial/compliance literacy (pricing, cash, revenue recognition awareness), and risk management.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPCM/CFCM).
  • Prior people leadership of contract teams supporting multiple sites.
  • Experience with Other Transaction Agreements (OTAs) and special-purpose agreements (e.g., Teaming Agreements, IP licensing agreements, MOUs).

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate expertise in U.S. Government and commercial contracting, with a focus on partnering with other primes through subcontract arrangements.
  • Stay current on the changing acquisition environment and BAE policies; maintain working knowledge of FAR/DFARS, commercial contracting methods, prime contract flow‑downs, IP/data rights, OCI, and TINA requirements.
  • Lead proposals: interpret solicitations, shape T&C positions, minimize risk, and support independent reviews.
  • Set negotiation strategy and financial requirements; negotiate complex agreements; execute within the Delegation of Authority (DOA).
  • Serve as the primary delegate to the Product Line Contracts Director, acting on their behalf for designated duties decisions within DOA; represent Contracts in customer reviews, and cross‑functional engagements, and escalate matters exceeding authority thresholds.
  • Draft/negotiate various agreements: NDAs/PIAs, Teaming Agreements, IP/data licensing, MOUs, CRADAs, and OTAs.
  • Administer contracts/POs: order entry accuracy, funding, scope/mods, schedules, and compliance.
  • Maintain records per contract and company requirements.
  • Report status via clear contract summaries and recommendations.
  • Build relationships with customer counterparts, as the primary contracting interface.
  • Close out contracts: confirm completion and perform closeout tasks.
  • Solve complex issues with innovative, compliant solutions.
