About The Position

The Gill Corporation is one of the world's largest manufacturers of honeycomb, high performance floor panels, cargo compartment liners and original equipment for passenger and freighter aircraft. The company also excels in many other types of reinforced plastics including interior sandwich panels for creating structures such as aircraft galleys and bulkheads, honeycomb core and related products. The Gill Corporation is seeking a Sr. CNC Operator who produces machined parts, sets up and operates computer numerical control (CNC) machines, maintaining quality and safety standards. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, they will perform but not be limited to the following responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
  • Understand drawings, ASME Y14.5 geometric tolerances
  • Understand CNC machine programming concepts
  • Ability to satisfactorily use computer based software tools
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with 3, 4 or 5 axis machining.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Must be able to understand complex manufacturing processes
  • This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). In order to comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants will be asked to provide specific documentation to verify U.S. person status under the ITAR and the EAR. Responsibilities

  • Reviews work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Sets-up conventional CNC mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; trimming heads.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to standards.
  • Using machine controls, retrieves programs from the network.
  • Changes cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process as specified in setup instructions.
  • Measures work piece for conformance to specifications.
  • Notifies supervisor of discrepancies.
  • Check cutter size and wear. Also add edits to accommodate actual cutter diameter to prevent parts not meeting tolerances.
  • Performs all work in accordance with TGC Procedures, Safety and ISO Standards.
  • Provides support to all CNC operators and programmers
  • Recommend and implement best CNC/Machining practices
  • Other duties as assigned.
