About The Position

The Sr. CNC Machinist sets up, adjusts, and operates lapping and grinding machines and other specialized machine tools. The role performs varied machining operations, often on standard work, requiring general knowledge of machining practices and techniques and the ability to meet specified tolerances and finishes. The machinist also provides guidance and training to lower-level machinists.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of experience.
• Ability to measure parts using micrometers, calipers, or other measuring tools.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints.
• Clear oral and written communication.
• Organization skills and ability to keep the area clean to 5S standards.
• Ability to meet productivity standards by completing work in a timely manner.

Nice To Haves

• Prior shop or mechanical experience.

Responsibilities

• Use drawings, sketches, and specifications to complete machining operations.
• Set up machines to achieve close tolerances, fitting, and alignment of machined parts.
• Obtain required first-piece inspections and inspect work in progress using a variety of measuring devices.
• Complete and maintain records of time, part counts, first-piece inspections, requisition forms, and other job documentation.
• Make jigs, fixtures, and other specialized non-production devices as qualified and assigned.
• Acquire raw material, supplies, and tools as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area and follow quality procedures and standards.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on machines according to the maintenance schedule.
• Troubleshoot drawings, machining, tooling, programming, and material issues, making appropriate decisions for the job.
• Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing as specified on prints.
• Provide guidance and training to lower-level machinists.
