About The Position

The Sr. Application Engineer – Data Center Power Whips is the technical owner of IEWC’s data center power whip product line. This customer-facing role combines applications engineering with hands-on product engineering, owning work end to end from customer requirements and quoting through design, new product introduction (NPI), and release to manufacturing. The position translates customer needs into buildable, cost-effective solutions; leads fast-turn quoting; develops build-ready drawings, routings, and bills of materials (BOMs); and leads the NPI process for power whips. Hands-on manufacturing support is provided as needed, backed by the existing Manufacturing Engineering team. The role is part of a small, nimble team focused on growing the power whip market. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field and at least 3 years of experience in copper cable or wire harness assembly design, applications engineering, or product engineering. Power whip or data center power distribution experience is strongly preferred. A valid driver’s license is required. The employee should be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, interpret technical and business information, and communicate technical solutions, designs, and quotes directly to customers. Required computer skills include SAP MRP, 2D CAD (AutoCAD or equivalent), Windows, standard business and computer applications, and proficiency in MS Access and Excel. The role regularly involves exposure to a manufacturing environment, occasional work-related travel including customer site visits, and occasional exposure to outdoor weather, fumes and airborne particles, moderate-to-high noise, and risk of electrical shock. Physical demands include frequent hand use, regular sitting and communication, occasional standing and walking, occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling or crouching, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 25 pounds. Close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus are required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
