Sr. Analyst, Applications (Senior BI Developer)

Centric Brands•Greensboro, NC

About The Position

Centric Brands is seeking an experienced front-end Business Intelligence Developer to design, build, and optimize dashboards, reports, and semantic models used for decision-making across the company. The role works across SAP enterprise systems, Snowflake, and visualization tools, primarily Power BI today, with Sigma adoption expanding. It is a hands-on role focused on delivering analytics products that are fast, trusted, and actively used by business teams and senior leadership. The developer will support merchandising, planning, finance, supply chain, and sales teams; work directly with stakeholders to clarify requirements; and help establish BI standards and self-service analytics practices. The company is migrating toward a cloud-first analytics stack based on Snowflake and Sigma over SAP enterprise data. The role is part of a collaborative Data & Analytics team and includes paid training and certification support in emerging tools such as Sigma.

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years of hands-on BI development experience delivering production dashboards and data models in an enterprise environment.
  • 3+ years of deep Power BI development experience, including advanced DAX, Power Query (M), composite models, incremental refresh, deployment pipelines, and workspace/governance administration.
  • 2+ years working with Snowflake or an equivalent cloud data warehouse, including advanced SQL, query optimization, and understanding warehouse cost and performance behavior; recent Snowflake experience is specified for equivalent platforms.
  • Hands-on experience using SAP data as a reporting source, such as SAP ECC or S/4HANA tables, SAP BW/BW4HANA extractors, or SAP data replicated into a cloud warehouse; familiarity with core SD/MM/FI data structures.
  • A portfolio of shipped dashboards and ability to explain the business problem, underlying model, performance decisions, and adoption.
  • Expert-level SQL skills, including profiling unfamiliar data, debugging discrepancies to row level, and refactoring slow queries.
  • Dimensional modeling fluency, including Kimball-style star schemas and judgment about where to implement logic.
  • Strong data visualization skills, including layout, color, and interaction choices that make complex retail and supply chain data readable.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication, including presenting to directors and VPs and translating between business language and technical design.
  • Rigorous habits around testing, validation, documentation, and version control.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on Sigma Computing development experience; Sigma experience is a strong plus but not required.
  • Experience in apparel, retail, CPG, or wholesale/licensing businesses, including familiarity with sell-in/sell-through, open-to-buy, markdowns, and seasonal planning.
  • Python or dbt experience for data transformation and testing.
  • Power BI administration experience at the tenant level, including capacities, gateways, and usage monitoring.
  • Exposure to SAP Analytics Cloud, Tableau, or Looker.
  • Experience supporting a BI tool migration or self-service analytics rollout.
  • Familiarity with Azure data services such as ADF or Synapse, or Fivetran/Matillion-style ELT tooling.
  • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300).
  • SnowPro Core Certification (Snowflake).
  • Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600).
  • Sigma Computing certification; the company will sponsor this for the right candidate.
  • SAP certification, such as SAP BW/4HANA or SAP Analytics Cloud.
  • Equivalent demonstrated expertise in place of formal certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain executive- and operational-level dashboards and reports in Power BI and increasingly in Sigma.
  • Build and optimize semantic models and datasets, including DAX measures, star-schema models, row-level security, and performance tuning for large datasets.
  • Write advanced SQL against Snowflake to shape, validate, and optimize reporting data, and partner with data engineering on ELT patterns and warehouse design.
  • Work with SAP-sourced data and translate enterprise sales, inventory, and finance structures into business-friendly analytics.
  • Gather requirements from business stakeholders, translate ambiguous requests into clear specifications, and iterate with end users.
  • Establish and champion BI standards, including naming conventions, design systems, documentation, version control, and certified datasets.
  • Troubleshoot data quality issues from source systems through dashboards and take ownership of the credibility of reported numbers.
  • Mentor analysts and business power users, and help lead Sigma adoption for self-service analytics on Snowflake.
  • Present to and build analytics products for senior leadership.
