About The Position

We are looking for an engineer to support the team in the industrialization of electrode production equipment. Working closely with the project engineer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development, writing, and implementation of technical testing protocols, define and analyze the operation of cutting-edge production equipment, participate in and influence design reviews and risk analysis activities, as well as lead the commissioning and start-up of unique equipment. This position offers a unique opportunity to be involved in a high-tech environment and play a key role in the success of ambitious industrial projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automated Production Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must be a member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  • Significant experience as a field engineer and/or in production support in control and automation.
  • Strong experience in the design and commissioning of special-purpose machines and/or machine tools.
  • Experience in the design and commissioning of assembly lines.
  • Proficiency in industrial programming languages based on the IEC 61131 standard (Ladder, FBD, Structured Text)
  • Proficiency in control system architectures (PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI)
  • Proficiency with the Rockwell environment (Allen-Bradley, FactoryTalk)
  • Knowledge of standard communication protocols: Modbus, EtherNet/IP, CIP
  • Understanding and application of standards and regulations applicable to industrial equipment: CSA Z432 / Z434: Canadian standards for the safety of machinery and industrial robots, IEC 62061 / ISO 13849-1: Safety of machinery – Design of safety-related parts of control systems, UL508A: Standard for the construction of industrial electrical control panels.
  • Ability to interpret and apply standards according to the project
  • Advise teams on regulatory compliance
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD design software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Visio
  • Ability to write technical documents and reports
  • Strong project management skills
  • Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Be a proactive contributor in managing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) aspects.
  • Lead the industrialization of the automated processes involved in the manufacturing of ELYSIS electrodes.
  • Coach the team on the fundamentals and best practices of control and automation.
  • Manage projects involving engineering firms, equipment suppliers, system integrators, and installers to ensure commissioning and proper functioning of equipment according to specifications.
  • Design functional specifications detailing automation system requirements and distribute them to suppliers.
  • Recommend changes to procedures, design, and technology integration.
  • Develop technical documentation and facilitate training sessions for peers.
  • Develop, write, and implement testing protocols for production equipment.
  • Work closely with ELYSIS mechanical, electrical, and automation engineers to ensure seamless integration of equipment within the plant and with other process systems.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests / Point of Verification (SAT/POV) in the United States, Canada, and Europe to ensure systems are developed and installed according to original specifications.
  • Stay informed about new automation technologies (IIoT, Industry 4.0, AI).
  • Proactively seek opportunities for innovation and improvement in control system design, processes, and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with the global ELYSIS team located in the United States and France.
