About The Position

As a Sr Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will lead a team of mechanical design engineers to develop high-quality products, manage timelines, budgets, and resources, and provide technical guidance. You will report directly to our Sr Mechanical Design Engineering Manage and you’ll work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a Hybrid work schedule. Honeywell Aerospace is launching the development of a new family of gas turbine engines that will help shape the future of the aerospace industry. The new family will be lighter, quieter, and more powerful while being 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel capable. Honeywell is hiring engineers in the areas of design, analysis, controls, test, and project management to accomplish this challenging new feat. We are looking to hire individuals who thrive on thinking big, have an appetite for growth, and a passion for winning. We are specifically looking for a Mechanical Engineer with Gas Turbine experience interested in joining our Turbine team. The scope of the work will include new product design, analysis, lifting and testing support of gas turbine components for new designs, redesigns and to resolve field related issues.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Equivalent of 5 years or more of experience in the Gas Turbine Industry

Nice To Haves

  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) knowledge and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of ANSYS for stress analysis including the creation of finite element models from CAD solid models and skill in using CAD software.
  • Crack growth analysis, and probabilistic lifing, as applied to turbine component design.
  • Knowledge of MATLAB and Python programing
  • Proficient in using NX, APDL, MATLAB, DARWIN.
  • Effectively work in a self-directed team environment to deliver customers requirements on time.
  • Strong teamwork skills, able to work in variety of team roles within cross-functional team.
  • Must be dedicated to customer satisfaction and demonstrated the capability to establish and maintain strong business and personal relationships with customers and co-workers.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform stress analysis and lifing for low and high cycle fatigue, creep, and burst on turbine components.
  • Mentor others to perform similar analyses.
  • Mechanical design and analysis on turbine components including blades, disks, seal plates and vanes.
  • Participate in implementing Model-Based Systems Engineering processes into our workflow.
  • Implement 2D and 3D finite element modeling techniques using analytical tools such as NX and ANSYS.
  • Execute complex axial turbine-related design and analysis efforts with an integrated team of engineers.
  • Effectively support complex projects involving multiple organizations, internal and external customers, to successfully complete all assignments.
  • Support engine tests and functional tests for engine certification or RCCA efforts.
  • Support continuous process improvement projects within the organization.
  • Communicate technical results to internal and external customers.
