Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • 5 years of job related clerical experience including cash handling and customer service .
  • Prior experience working in a financial capacity.
  • Basic math and spelling skills required.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer and data entry skills (minimum 45 WPM).
  • Strong interpersonal skills including diplomacy and problem-solving to interact effectively with vendors, employees, agencies, and elected officials.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position.
  • Ability to independently complete tasks under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Valid Texas Driver License and continuous proof of vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, verify, and process credit card reports, reversals, and reconciliations.
  • Audit and process refunds, certified payments, and other financial transactions.
  • Audit unpaid vouchers and reconcile banking exceptions.
  • Create and process daily deposits, NSF paperwork, and change requests.
  • Mail letters to un-cleared check holders.
  • Prepare and process check requests for escheat of cash bonds and registry funds.
  • Deposit overage funds and maintain account balances.
  • Maintain financial records, including retention and scanning.
  • Assist in processing collections and ensuring compliance with office policies.
  • Process court registry and Commissioner’s Court registry transactions.
  • Process weekly check runs, voids, stop payments, and refund or receipt adjustments.
  • Generate financial reports for auditing and departmental review.
  • Perform copier meter readings and assist with special projects assigned by the County Clerk.
  • Track and deposit committee or special event funds.
  • Process cash bond deposits and refunds; manage escrow accounts, including deposits, closures, and statements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
