About The Position

Fort Bend County is seeking a Deputy County Court Clerk to join the County Clerk's Office, Courts Division. This role involves evaluating, analyzing, preparing, filing, recording, issuing, retrieving, transporting, and scanning all court documents. The position also includes preparing, filing, assigning, and docketing new cases according to office policy and statutory parameters. The Deputy County Court Clerk will serve as the clerk of court, assist the judge in the courtroom, administer oaths, and execute all orders. Maintaining knowledge of statutes and the ability to research legal issues is crucial. Responsibilities also include auditing case events, activities, and caseloads by court, maintaining confidentiality and security of documents and data, and collecting fees while reconciling cash drawers. The role requires assisting customers in person, by phone, and via mail, and participating in emergency management activities during a local state of disaster as directed. Overtime may be required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • One year job related customer service or clerical experience.
  • Strong computer, data entry, and typing skills (40 wpm).
  • Ability to do basic math and spelling.
  • Strong written communication, verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including diplomacy and problem solving to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.
  • Ability to complete tasks while under pressure and within tight deadlines.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License.

Responsibilities
