About The Position

FNIC is seeking a "benefits guru" to join our team as a Sr. Account Manager, Employee Benefits who will work with brokers and carriers to provide exceptional service to our clients. This role involves effectively and independently managing customer service accountabilities on a book of business of $750,000 minimum in commission income while meeting department service standards. The position also assists producers in developing and monitoring service plans for key accounts, aids in training new employees, and is responsible for file setup and quotes for groups with greater than 50 lives. The role requires knowledgeable understanding of all group products, plan designs, and rating procedures for a book of business exceeding $750,000 in commission income. Additionally, the Sr. Account Manager assists producers with enrollment materials and presentations, attends client meetings and benefit fairs, and completes servicing of accounts using standard proposals, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations. The role involves reviewing policies and applications for accuracy and completeness, ensuring carrier requirements are met for policy implementation, and providing backup and input in the sales process for quotes on all product lines. The Sr. Account Manager manages the renewal process, assists producers in negotiating advantageous renewal terms, and reviews quotes and prepares proposals. Prompt response to customer inquiries, communication with producers, clients, carriers, and agency team members, and maintenance of electronic account files using the agency management system are key responsibilities. The role requires prioritizing workload, requesting assistance from management when necessary, performing quality reviews, and complying with quality program requirements. Maintaining effective working relationships with clients and insurance company representatives, ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information (including PHI), and pursuing technical knowledge through various educational opportunities are also essential. Regular and consistent attendance and performing other assigned duties are expected.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years direct Employee Benefit Account Management experience
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Nebraska Life, Sickness, Accident and Health Agent’s license
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • In-depth knowledge of self-funded groups, including knowledge of self-funding concepts, markets and procedures
  • Knowledge of carrier rating and underwriting procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel), and all agency automation software
  • Proficient in department workflows and procedures
  • Strong respect for confidentiality

Responsibilities

  • Effectively and independently manage customer service accountabilities on a book of business of $750,000 minimum in commission income while meeting department service standards
  • Assist producer in development of service plan for key accounts; and coordinate and monitor the service plan as needed
  • Assist management in the training and orientation of new employees to the department
  • Responsible for file setup and quotes for groups with greater than 50 lives
  • Knowledgeable of all group products plan designs and rating procedures for a book of business in excess of $750,000 in commission income
  • Assist producers in preparation of enrollment materials and presentations and attend client meetings and benefit fairs
  • Complete servicing of accounts, including but not limited to utilizing standard proposals, spreadsheets and Power Point presentations, depending upon which product is quoted
  • Review policies upon receipt in accordance with agency procedures for timely customer service
  • Review all applications and policies for accuracy and completeness and take an active role in completing all carrier requirements to implement policy
  • Provide backup and input directly in sales process for quotes on all product lines.
  • Manage renewal process according to agency procedures; assist producer in negotiating most advantageous renewal terms and conditions for the client; review quotes, prepare proposals
  • Promptly respond to customers’ questions and/or requests for assistance
  • Communicate all necessary information to producers, clients, carriers and any other agency team members servicing the account
  • Maintain the electronic account file and fully incorporate the capabilities of the agency management system into daily workflow
  • Prioritize workload to consistently meet objectives and request assistance from management when necessary
  • Perform quality reviews as requested by management, and comply with requirements of quality programs
  • Follow agency and department procedures as outlined by management
  • Meet with and maintain effective working relationships with clients to support business retention
  • Meet with and maintain effective working relationships with insurance company representatives
  • Ensure confidentiality is maintained in the collection, maintenance, and dissemination of highly sensitive information, including Protected Health Information (PHI)
  • Maintain, develop, and pursue technical knowledge through newsletters, bulletins, seminars, trade publications or other educational opportunities
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance
  • Any other special projects and duties as assigned
