About The Position

The Spotter safely and efficiently directs vehicle drivers to the appropriate areas of a landfill, transfer station, or recycling center based on the site fill plan, while ensuring publicly posted safety rules are followed. The role inspects incoming loads for unacceptable waste and removes such items before disposal. The Spotter may also perform general labor, including site cleanup, yard work, and building maintenance, as needed.

Requirements

One year of previous experience working around heavy machinery.
Ability to adhere to the work schedule and follow through on challenges as they arise.
Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules and promote Company safety standards.
Honesty and trustworthiness.

Responsibilities

Follow Company safety policies and procedures, including how to approach oncoming vehicles, make eye contact with drivers to ensure signals are understood, and wear personal protective equipment at all times.
Enforce publicly posted safety rules and unposted safety standards.
Direct vehicles to the appropriate facility area based on the site fill plan, including directing trucks in and out of the site during inclement weather.
Inspect incoming loads for unacceptable waste and remove unsegregated items, including tires, batteries, and other unacceptable materials, before disposal.
Communicate with equipment operators about incoming special-waste loads or other loads requiring special attention.
Complete daily closing tasks according to guidelines and procedures.
Perform general labor as needed, including site cleanup, yard work, and building maintenance.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
