About The Position

The Sportsbook Writer helps provide a smooth, accurate, and engaging wagering experience for guests at the Live! Sportsbook. Maryland Live! has partnered with FanDuel to operate a sportsbook within its Sports & Social venue. The role processes bets, verifies tickets, monitors odds, and pays winnings while providing guests with clear information and courteous service. The position requires knowledge of sports wagering, including probability, point spreads, money lines, and wagering rules, as well as attention to regulatory compliance and responsible gaming.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education.
1–2 years of experience in high-volume cash operations.
Thorough knowledge of the approved Responsible Gaming Program.
Ability to work with and understand financial information and data, and perform basic arithmetic functions.
Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays; extended hours or work weeks may be required from time to time.
Ability to obtain and maintain the license required by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency.
Effective and friendly communication skills.
Prior sports and sports betting knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

Accept bets and parlay cards and write tickets for sporting events in a professional and courteous manner.
Receive sports or parlay tickets and pay customers presenting winning tickets and vouchers.
Maintain and balance a till used to issue and redeem tickets and vouchers.
Keep the window neat and stocked for the next shift.
Process transactions accurately and maintain accurate reconciliations.
Follow Title 31 procedures and logging requirements.
Know the terms and conditions for sports wagering and be aware of Sports Book lines and odds.
Watch for unusual betting patterns and report them to the Sports Book Supervisor.
Comply with regulatory controls required by the state gaming agency.
Promote superior guest service.
Perform other duties as assigned.
