About The Position

The Sportsbook Writer is responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience while accurately processing sports wagers in compliance with Arizona Gaming Regulations, internal policies, and system controls. This position ensures the integrity of sportsbook operations by maintaining accuracy in all transactions, safeguarding company assets, and adhering to established procedures. The Sportsbook Writer provides knowledgeable and friendly service to all guests by explaining wagering options, answering questions, and promoting participation in sportsbook activities. This role requires a strong understanding of sports wagering, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment consistent with the We-Ko-Pa Way standards of service.

Requirements

  • Must have in-depth knowledge (acquired within six months) and a thorough understanding of Policies and Procedures, and government regulations, relevant to their responsibilities, such as the following: U.S. Treasury Bank Secrecy Act (with regard to title 31 and suspicious activity reports pertaining to casino activity)
  • Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds and push or pull 100.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a State/Tribal License (including an extensive background check).
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test.

  • Preference will be given to qualified applicants who are members of federally recognized Indian tribes. To be considered for Indian Preference, you must submit your Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB) with your application.

Responsibilities

  • Provides exceptional guest service to both external and internal guests by maintaining and exhibiting the Casino Resort We-Ko-Pa Way
  • Identifies, establishes, and inspires patrons to sign up and participate in the Sportsbook.
  • Write and pay for valid sportsbook tickets.
  • Operate wagering terminal and perform machine maintenance, including but not limited to loading new tickets and keeping the area free of all debris.
  • Ensure sports operations are conducted in compliance with Arizona Gaming Regulations, Minimum Standards, and System of Internal Controls.
  • Answer all guests; explain wagering information, and questions in a manner that reflects an understanding of the department and property in general.
  • Must have a full understanding of all wagers offered on the betting board with the ability to explain to customers as needed.
  • Assist supervisors in identifying guests with special needs to ensure the protection of the company assets and the best guest service possible.
  • Observe and report unusual or suspicious wagering patterns or transactions.
  • Maintains a dependable work attendance record with extremely infrequent absences and/or lateness.
  • Has the ability to work varying hours and days where needed, including weekends and holidays.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
