About The Position

Provide excellent customer service while writing and cashing Sportsbook tickets. The Sportsbook Writer is responsible for being well-versed in the products and services offered by the Sportsbook Department and promoting current promotions and events to guests. This role involves communicating and explaining the wager process, handling cash banks, placing, writing, cashing, and processing tickets according to policy, and maintaining strict confidentiality. The position requires the ability to resolve guest disputes and complaints calmly and patiently, maintain a clean work station, and ensure compliance with all gaming regulations and procedures. Additionally, the Sportsbook Writer will assist guests with kiosk malfunctions and service interruptions.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One or more years of customer service experience.
  • Available to work flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a New York State Gaming License.
  • Regularly required to see, talk, and hear.
  • Use of hand to finger dexterity, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms.
  • Stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequently required to stoop, crouch or kneel.
  • Ability to interact with others while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of cash handling experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to communicate with the leadership team, team members, and guests.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests to the Sportsbook.
  • Promote products, services, and current promotions/events to guests.
  • Explain the wager process to new and existing guests.
  • Obtain and balance their own cash bank during their shift.
  • Place, write, cash, and process tickets according to cash handling policy and procedures.
  • Maintain strict confidence of all confidential and proprietary information.
  • Comply with all internal controls and procedures.
  • Handle guest disputes, resolve complaints, and manage difficult situations calmly and patiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness at their work station and in the Sportsbook Department.
  • Ensure adherence to all gaming regulations, Title 31, and other policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory controls, including state and federal laws and New York State Gaming Commission regulations.
  • Investigate and assist guests with kiosk malfunctions and service interruptions.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
