About The Position

The team member in this position is responsible for providing superior customer service while accurately and efficiently processing sports wagers. The Sportsbook Writer is the front-line representative of the sportsbook, assisting guests with placing bets, understanding wagering options, and ensuring compliance with all company and regulatory policies. This position requires attention to detail, a high level of accuracy in handling transactions, and a strong knowledge of sports and betting terminology.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic understanding of sports and wagering terminology required.
  • Proficient with basic computer operations and point-of-sale systems.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Level 2 – Sports Wagering License.
  • Must complete all required company training.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior cash handling, customer service, or retail experience preferred.
  • Sportsbook, casino, or hospitality experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with point spreads, money lines, and over/under bets preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional guest service by greeting all guests, answering questions about betting options, and assisting with bet placement.
  • Accurately and efficiently process sports wagers through designated sportsbook systems, terminals, or kiosks.
  • Maintain knowledge of current betting lines, odds, and sports events to assist guests and ensure accurate transactions.
  • Verify identification and eligibility of guests for wagering in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Handle cash and ticket transactions, issue payouts, and balance cash drawers at the end of each shift.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area.
  • Report any suspicious betting activity or technical issues to the Sportsbook Supervisor or appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure all wagering transactions and guest interactions are conducted in compliance with internal controls and applicable regulations.
  • Respond to guest concerns and inquiries with professionalism, escalating complex or unresolved issues to the Supervisor or Manager.
  • Keep up to date on sportsbook promotions, rules, and new offerings to accurately inform guests.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating odds boards, signage, and displays as directed.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
